XDA III available for Preorder at Expansys

August 29, 2004

Pic08My dream Device is on preorder at Expanys USA for a hefty $896.45. The expected date is sometime in September. Yeh that’s a crazy price and I never thought I’d spend so much on a Pocket PC. But it just has everything I want! In myop it puts the Ipaq 6315 to shame. It’s got a 400mhz processor as opposed to the 6315’s measly 200mhz and it has a built in keyboard. Finally I have something to replace my Ipaq 4155 and Sidekick Color. To read more about the XDA III check out here for its specifications

HP 6315 is a dissapointment

August 26, 2004

Ipaq_6315_wkybdAfter reading several reviews from dissappointed users at Howardforums, I’ve decided not to purchase the 6315. I was really looking foward to this device, I believe many people were. Unfortunately, It hasn’t lived up to it’s expectations well enough. Owners are complaining that it’s too slow, freezes up very often, and has other problems like static. However, there are a decent amount of people who seem to be happy with it. But the fact that everyone agrees it’s very slow discourages me. I’m very impatient when it comes to multitasking and I’d get to frusterated by such a slow device. Many people have been returning them back to Comp Usa. ~sighs~ I guess I will have to keep waiting for the perfect all in one convergence device.

Free Ipods.com - I got an Ipod mini for Free - Yes Really!

There has been alot of speculation about Freeipods.com. Alot of people think it must just be a scam. Well at last, those people are wrong! I got my free Ipod Mini today. It was sealed and brand new. They shipped it to me via fed ex. After I got 5 Referrals, and signed up for a free trial with aol, it took a month for them to get it to me. I cancelled Aol after 30 days and had no problem. I wouldn’t recommend signing up with Ancestry.com, I’ve heard bad things about cancelling that subscription. Overall I’m very amazed and very happy. I’ll be gloating about this for weeks.
And they say nothing good in life is free :)

Hp 6315 on Sale at Comp Usa

August 22, 2004

ipaq_6315_wkybd Hp 6315 on Sale at Comp Usa
Even though the rumored release date for the HP 6315 is August 26th, Comp Usa has them in stock at many of their stores for in-store pick up only. In case you haven’t heard, the Ipaq 6315 is the highly anticipated Pocket PC Phone which is the first to have Bluetooth, Wifi, and GPRS. I went to take a look at it myself, but I didn’t get a chance to test it out for more then a minute. Overall I liked it but I need more time with it before I make a purchasing decision.
Here is a good review of the 6315: Dave’s Ipaq Review .

Scan from Mobile PC Magazine Sept 04
SonyclieripAs you may or may have not heard, Sony has recently announced that they are no longer going to make any Sony Clie’s - except in Japan that is. This cute illustration from Mobile Pc Magazine sums up the history of discontinued PDA’s.

Just Installed Windows Service Pack 2

August 22, 2004

I’m happy to say that I just successfully installed Windows Service Pack 2 and everything is working great. I’ve read mixed reviews, mostly good ones, still I was a bit hesitant about installing it. I was having a problem with Internet Explorer and the Automatic Updates- they kept freezing, and a system restore wouldn’t fix the problem, so I downloaded the service pack file from download.com. Everything seems to be running smoothly. My internet explorer is loading up fine again, and even seems to be running a little faster.

First Post!

August 22, 2004

Well here I go. For the past few months I’ve become a big blog addict when it comes to great technology blogs like engadget.com , Pocket PC Thoughts, and Gizmodo. While I love the reviews, opinions, and news updates on all of these blogs and other similar ones, I’ve continually noticed the lack of female input on them. Undoubtedbly, there are more male "techies" out there then female ones. Thus, I think it’s time I helped lower the testoserone level a bit by writing from a a girl’s perspective. Often my opinion will overlap with other men’s opinions out there and perhaps sometimes it’ll be totally different. Aside from opinions, I’ll also be posting interesting news bits and funny things that I may find on or off of the web. I’m looking foward to hearing readers opinions as well!

Sincerely,
the Chip Chick
