Vonage, Packet8, Broadvoice, AT&T Call Vantage, and other VOIP companies are sprouting up everywhere. They promise great packages – $25 for unlimited calling from Vonage enticed me into trying them. I bought the Adapter for my high speed Cable connection and hooked everything up. Unfortunately, I was horribly disappointed with their service, it didn’t work half of the time and the customer service was a nightmare. I was on hold for an hour on average till I would finally get connected to a rep who often sounded like he/she was very unhappy to be working there. I also kept getting disconnected and passed from one rep to the other…. in other words it was a completely frustrating experience. Needless to say I canceled the service. After Vonage, I swore off trying VOIP again for a while.
Recently I discovered a new VOIP provider Called SunRocket. Their prices are competitive – for $25 a month you get unlimited calls and long distance in the U.S., 2 Phone numbers ( Yes that’s right -two!), 100 minutes of international calls, caller id, voicemail, and a free adapter for your dsl or cable connection. Most other services charge $50-100 for the adapter or they’ll offer it free after rebate. Also, Sunrocket does not have an activation fee or cancellation fee which most other services have. There is a great promotion going on till March 15th – they’ll give you two Uniden Cordless phone handsets to use with your new service (Code: SRAUD3). The folks over at DSL Reports gave Sunrocket good reviews for quality and customer service, so I am psyched! One member posted that faxing works with it as well, but I can’t find a faxing feature on their site to confirm that claim. Most voip’s providers currently don’t offer a faxing capability – the only VOIP i know of that does offer a faxing feature is Vonage.
So Sunrocket sounds too good to be true right? Well i ordered mine today, I’ll let you know how it works out. Anyone else have any experience with them?
