March 31, 2005
Slashphone reports that a dating agency in Britain has launched a remote-viewing service that allows you to see video clips of filmed personal messages of potential mates via your cell phone.
What can’t we do via our cell phones nowadays?
Dell brings the Samsung Q30 to the U.S.
March 30, 2005
A little while back I posted about the Samsung Q30 2.5 lbs laptop that I have been drooling over. I was frustrated because the Samsung Q30 wasn’t available in the U.S. unless you bought it from an importer like Dynamism. It must be that someone at Dell Computers took notice of my pain because today they released the Dell Latitude X1 which is exactly the Samsung Q30 but it’s Dell branded. The bad news is that Dell’s version is an ugly grey so it doesn’t come in a shiny red or black finishing like the Samsungâs Q30. The good news is that Dellâs version is a heck of a lot more affordable, starting at $1699 with a three year warranty. And Iâm sure that Dell will soon enough have coupons and sales that will bring the price down even further. Dell made a really smart move by rebranding the q30 and making it affordable. I have to get one of these eventually, even if they are a really dull grey!

Toshiba Gigabeat F-series Color LCD Mp3 Players preorder
March 29, 2005
Dapreview reports that the Toshiba Gigabeat F-series is now available for preorder at J & R. These color lcd mp3 players look pretty slick and the battery life isn’t bad at 16 hours. They’ve been available in Japan for over a year now but Toshiba is finally releasing it here in the U.S. I think Toshiba would have been wiser if they had pushed the U.S. release out earlier. With the Ipod Photos already out, the F-Series just doesn’t look as enticing as it did a year ago. The 10 gig model is priced at $279 and the other models are a 20, 40, and 60 gig model ranging up to $450.

Cingular Wireless “fires” Ogo
March 25, 2005
Cingular Wireless has discontinued the Ogo. Undoubtedly because it did very
poorly. The Ogo was essentially a smart idea. For $18.99 a month you could use
Yahoo IM, MSN Messenger and AIM as well as send and receive e-mails. But the Ogo
was very large, the design was nasty, and the operating system was very limited,
so it never took off. The competition from the Sidekick couldn’t have helped it
either. Overall the Ogo won’t be missed. I just hope that Cingular doesn’t give up on
coming out with more devices like it. The more messaging devices out there can only be good for innovation.
Fujifilm Digital Mobile Printer MP-70
March 24, 2005
If you have a camera phone then chances are you have alot of pictures stored inside your phone that you never get around to printing out. The new MP-70 Fujifilm Digital Mobile Printer can print out photos off of your phone by connecting to your phone via infrared. The Mp-70 is very portable and light enough to carry with you at just 205 grams. Plus it prints a photo in a speedy 20 seconds. If they price this printer reasonably I think it’ll do pretty well.
Samsung Yp-f1 Tiny Mp3 player with Faceplates
March 24, 2005
The YP-F1 is a new addition to the Samsung line of Mp3 flash players. The Yp-F1 has a clip on the back so you can wear it on your belt or clothing. Alternatively it can be worn as a necklace. It also has a faceplate so
that you can change it’s color. It supports MP3, WMA, ASF and Ogg Vorbis. Plus
it has an FM-Tuner, and an alarm Clock. I can’t think of too many mp3 players with
an alarm clock. It’ll be available in 256mb, 512mb and 1GB. And it weighs a
little above 1 ounce (32g)! Samsung keeps throwing these great new
gadgets at us. But when will they come to the U.S.! (Source: i4u )
Yahoo to begin giving 1GB of storage with each free E-mail Account
March 23, 2005
Yahoo has evidently caved into peer pressure from Gmail’s popularity. They announced today that they will begin to offer 1gb of storage with their free e-mail
accounts. According to ZDNet
news, it’ll take 2 weeks to implement the extra storage in all current
user’s accounts. They’re also going to offer antivirus scanning using
Symantec’s Norton Antivirus. It looks like Hotmail is going to lag behind Yahoo
and Gmail with it’s current offering of only 250mb. Personally I find Hotmail
to be very slow and its spam filtering to be very ineffective.
Anyway, let the free-e-mail-services-war rage on!
Is there a 100 Gigabyte SD card in our future?
March 22, 2005
According to David Berlind, IBM is working on new MEMS-based storage technology that can bring us
Secure Digital cards with an amazing 100 gigabytes of storage inside. He
estimates that it’ll be about two years before we get to buy this new wonder of
technology. The possibilities that could come from this are endless.
Undoubtedly, it’ll affect Mp3 players, cell phones, PDAs and inevitably all
forms of electronics. Now all we have to do is wait a few years and see if this
all comes to fruition.
World’s Lightest 12.1 Inch Laptop, the Samsung Q30
March 21, 2005
The Samsung Q30 is the world’s lightest 12.1 inch laptop. There is no built-in
optical drive but who cares since it weighs only 2.4 pounds! This beauty comes with
a shiny black or red cover, and a built-in multi-format memory card reader. The
display is a bright 12.1 inch Wide screen XGA. I had the Toshiba Portege r100 a
little while back and I loved it because it was almost as light-weight as
the Q30, but the screen wasn’t bright enough for my eyes.
I’m in love with the Q30. Unfortunately the only way to get this beauty in the U.S. is through an importer like
Dynamism. Dynamism is selling it for a whopping $3500.

Their latest, the W5000A, comes in black or white, has bluetooth, a dual-layer dvd-writer, a webcam and built in 1.3 megapixel camera. Its got a 12.1 inch lcd and is pretty darn portable at about 3.6 pounds. Check out the demo
Neosol CN-2210 Hard Disk Media Player with TV Tuner
March 20, 2005
This 5gb player doesn’t just play mp3s and videos, it also plays and records tv shows via it’s built in tv tuner. It’s got a 2.2 inch oled color screen and it plays DIVX files. Having a TV tuner insides might be a good enough reason for people to shell out the money for a personal video player. No reviews are out on the CN-2210 yet, but T3 Magazine says they’ll have a review in their next issue. I’ll keep you updated.
Multipod 5 in 1 USB Stick drive
March 18, 2005
Here’s a USB Flash Memory Drive that does more than just store files. The Multipod is also a web cam, a digital audio recorder, a low resolution digital camera, a digital video recorder which can records up to 12 minutes of 640×480 resolution at about 23fps, and it has 128mb of memory. The Multipod does a lot of things, but it doesn’t do anything well enough to replace any of your current devices. However, if you are looking to buy a USB memory drive and you have the extra cash then it’s worth it to get this one with all of its bells and whistles. Unfortunately it has a USB 1.1 interface which is on the slow side. Maximum PC Magazine gave it a 7 out of 10. The retail price for the Multipod is $150.
“Designer” Cell Phone Cases
March 18, 2005
NewYorkCellPhone.com, an online retailer, has a nice assortment of ladies’ "designer" cell phone cases. There are even some Louis Vuitton inspired cases for $9.99. However, I’ve never seen a genuine Louis Vuitton cell phone case, nor could I find one online. But I guess anything is better than plain old black!

Designer Playstation Portable Accessories
March 16, 2005
The PSP isn’t even out in the U.S. until March 25th but that didn’t hold back
celebrates from coming to a runway show with Designer
PSP accessories. These bags aren’t too bad, I kind
of like the one on the left but the other ones are a bit out there for my taste. Either way I’m
glad to see that companies are making more electronic’s accessories geared towards women and fashion.

March 16, 2005
Digitimes reports about the new DVB-T HDTV Tuner and 2 other new TV Tuners from Compro which are the world’s first TV Tuners on USB Sticks. Being that the DVB-T is HDTV capable is quite incredible, however you need a minimum of 2.4ghz for the HDTV to work.
