Cingular Wireless has discontinued the Ogo. Undoubtedly because it did very
poorly. The Ogo was essentially a smart idea. For $18.99 a month you could use
Yahoo IM, MSN Messenger and AIM as well as send and receive e-mails. But the Ogo
was very large, the design was nasty, and the operating system was very limited,
so it never took off. The competition from the Sidekick couldn’t have helped it
either. Overall the Ogo won’t be missed. I just hope that Cingular doesn’t give up on
coming out with more devices like it. The more messaging devices out there can only be good for innovation.

Cingular has other products for data transfer.
You can use BlackBerry Software for same thing.
Scaredwitless
This is simply untrue, and never has been true. This is a horrible rumor that many sites pushed without any official confirmation. Ogo still survives, can still be purchased for new, and new activations are happening all the time. In fact IXI, the Ogo developers, are taking a forfront role in push the Ogo forth into its future. Scared is quite right, even now, despite appearances to the contrary – IXI has assured me directly in response to an inquiry that existing ogos will continue to be supported by cingular and that IXI is moving forward with future plans for ogo. http://newworldsrd.blogspot.com

Ogi is far from dead, and not everyone needs voice as stated above. Ogo has a very viable U.S. Market and following – it was hurt most by the merger between ATT/Cingular and also by limited scope in marketing.
It is much more popular in business and hearing impaired markets than in the orginally targeted teen markets.

I for one dont mind owning an OGO device. for $17 bucks a month with no contract, u cant go wrong. I use it for my unlimited use of syncing to my email and unlimted cell phone text. i dont mind not having web browser and able to view picture or html. Im happy with my device, and hoping for a new version , maybe an Ogo 2??? for more added features.
