The DataWind PocketSurfer’s sole function is surfing the web on its pocketable VGA screen. The good part about this device is that web sites come up normally on it. Javascript works fine on this device and you can even experience popups like on a regular computer, plus it has a keyboard. It’s also relatively affordable at $199. However there are significant drawbacks to the Pocket Surfer – in order to surf the web with it you need a cellular phone with bluetooth and an unrestricted internet Data subcription from your cellular provider. Also, Datawind charges $10 a month to use the Pocket Surfer. Overall the Pocket Surfer is a unique device, but the fact that it doesn’t connect to the internet on its own probably explains why it hasn’t become very popular.
