Girls are Getting More & More Into Gaming
Computer Gaming World Magazine has a feature in its July / August issueabout its increasing percentage of women readers. According to them, their
percentage of female readers has jumped from 3% to 15% percentage in the past
few years. Unfortunately they don’t have an explanation for as to why more women
are becoming interested in their magazine. No matter what the exact reason is,
it’s exciting to see that there is a growing amount of women interested in
gaming.
While we’re on the subject, here are some links to Women’s Gaming related sites:

It’s nice to know we don’t have to hide anymore, eh? Of course,I never knew that my penchant for demon slaying, power leveling, and puzzle solving was something to be ashamed of. Back in my college days, I never really brought up the fact that I was doing rather horribly in my art history classes because I had just gotten an SNeS. I never mentioned to potential GF’s that I had spent an embarrasing amount of time and effort just to find a copie of Doom 2 on that capable little platform. I think it’s because the few times that i did mention my hobbie/obbsession to other women, the looks I recieved were enough to remind myself not to let that particular cat out of the bag anymore. Now a days, I am a strong proponant of all Gamer Chicks coming out of their respective closets and declare to the world that what was once thought to be only “man space’ has always been inhabited by women. We are only now speaking up about it because it’s become very aparent that unless we define the arena of video games as a”woman’s space” too, than we will continue to be subjected to video games that show women in a less than acceptable fashion. Wem are not just being more vocal about the games we play, there’s also a larger number of us that are helping to make these games as well. There are even a few companies that are offering scholorships to attract more women into the world of game design and digital entertainment. I wish someone told me long ago, that being a geek would be cool someday!
