Uniden Cordless ELBT595 Cellular Like Phone

The Uniden ELBT595 Cordless landline phone doesn’t just look like a cell phone, it also acts like one. It has bluetooth which enables it to connect to your cell phone to utilize your minutes. So if you have free long distance on your cellular plan then you can make use of those minutes via your landline. The ELBT595 also features recordable ringtones, downloadable backgrounds, a full color LCD display, a calendar with scheduled reminders, and an optional wireless Bluetooth Headset.

Unfortunately, it also costs like a full featured cell phone at ~$250. I had decided I wanted this phone when I first heard about it late last year. I ended up getting an inexpensive multi handset combination from uniden available at Costco. ($69 for a two handset 5.8GHz setup)

The feature that is in the expensive phone, that I’d really like, is to be able to syncronize the phone books.

This phone is way overpriced. I think it is a great idea linking with bluetooth. But, do we really need all these excessive bells and whistles? Just make the damn thing ring and make calls. Caller ID/Waiting is nice, but I would be happy with just that. $250 for the phone….plus, it has to be next to it for bluetooth to work. Might as well just use the cellular. I live in a townhome. I truely need this item as I don’t use a landline. But, I need the base…and a satellite. I will just continue to run up and down the stairs for the time being. Rather than dish my money out for an overpriced item.
