Pixi Digital Picture Pendant

By Chip Chick

August 9th, 2005

PixidmtnYou may have read about the lightweight KeyPix Digital Picture Key Chain which stores and displays 56 photos. It’s an interesting gimmick, but nothing spectacular enough to shell out $59.99 for. However, the Pixi Digital Picture Pendant might catch some peoples’ attention. It basically has the same functions as the Key Chain, and it costs the same price as the key chain, but the pendant can be worn as a necklace. Who knows, maybe being brave enough to wear one of these might even start a fashion trend.

Giga M34 USB & the Gigaset Solution for Skyping on your Cordless Phone

By Chip Chick

August 3rd, 2005

S645Lately, there’s been a lot of talk about upcoming Wifi phones
which would allow you to make use of VOIP while away from your computer. But if you’re
a VOIP-addict and are impatient for a handset to use Skype with, then Siemens
has a few good-looking solutions. Ukiptel.co.uk has 3 Siemens Gigaset cordless
land line phones that are Skype compatible if you purchase the Giga M34 USB
Adapter
as well. After you plug the Giga M34 adapter into your computer’s USB
port, it’ll connect Skype to your Gigaset so that you can use Skype from your
cordless phone. The compatible Gigasets include the S440, S44 and S645, which
all have color screens. Ok,
so this solution for VOIP isn’t exactly a wifi phone, but it is definitely a way
to merge your landline and Skype software so that your not tied down to using
Skype only on your computer.

Ipod Mini Case from Prada

Pradapod_250Here’s another designer ipod mini case to add to our database of cases that
are classy but we’ll probably never purchase because they cost as much as an ipod
mini. Prada has a new ipod mini case for $212 USD,
it’s available in black, bronze or orange and comes with a
black strap and a faux gold clip. Now that’s value for your money.

Biojewlery

By Chip Chick

August 2nd, 2005

Biojewlery_ringCommitment & wedding rings are most commonly composed of platinum or
gold. The reason we spend so much money on these rings is for their sentimental
value and the significance of what the ring represents.  A group of researchers,
and a bioengineer in England, have used a four step process to coax cell’s from
a couple into a ring. The whole process is kind of complicated, and it involves
having surgery in order to donate the cells. The Biojewelry project is still in
its experimental stages and won’t be mass marketed just yet, but I like the
concept a lot – there’s something special about having your partner’s DNA on
your ring. Even if it is just a tad bit creepy :)

Forget customizing your Cell Phone with a faceplate, how about customizing your nails with “faceplates”?

By Chip Chick

August 1st, 2005

Pl_51_street1_fGetting your nails done is a time honored female tradition. I myself like
getting a design painted on my nails whenever I do make the trip out to the nail
salon. Well, instead of having a design painted on your nails, what if you could
have a JPEG image of your choice painted on your nail? MeiYiMei, a company based
in China has produced a machine that outputs 4,800-dpi images directly on to
your nail or onto a salon’s press-on nails. All you have to do is stick your
hands under their inkjet printer and wallah your nails are customized to your
imagination’s specifications. Says Lemon Huang, MeiYiMei’s manager of
international trade: "Now high school girls can change their nails as easily as
switching the faceplate on their mobile phones."

I can’t help but imagine the consequences of this machine being let loose
in the states. I can see it now,
before you know it everyone and everything from Ashton Kutcher to  George
Bush will be sitting on people’s fingertips. (Source: Wired Magazine, August 2005).
