Ipod Nano Rip-Off Plays Video and costs Half the Price

With every new ipod product there are countless imitations, does LuxPro ring a bell? Anyway, this latest Nano-ripoff has the potential to wipe the floor with the real thing. The ­­­­i-Bob looks almost identical to the Nano but it has a bunch of features to hold over the Nano – it plays Video on its 1.5 inch OLED screen, supports wav, wma, mp3, mp4, and asf files, has radio recording, dual earphone ports, an e-book reader, and a photo album viewer. The only aspect that causes this imitation to fall short is that its biggest capacity is 1 gig.  It’s currently retailing on Ebay Australia for a dirt cheap $160 which is about $119 USD. Here is a link to a video of the i-Bob in action. The smaller capacity issue, I can handle for this price, but the name "i-Bob" is a bit much – really, what were they thinking! Can anyone get their hands on one of these to let us know whether this is junk, or just a real steal? (Source: Thanks to Sandy!)

    At 1GB capacity, it’s not a steal…my video iPod has 30x the capacity for less than twice the price. Basic math.

    I got the 512 version..not called i-bob and no lame white trim on screen, for $100 CAD with shipping. Its less simplistic to use than i-pod but also much more versatile. Works great, comes with sweet chinese music video, and makes you feel good that you are not one of those apple buying smarmy bastards.

    I know a couple folks that have them, and the thing seems to perform fairly well. The “fit and finish” isn’t nearly what a “real” iPod would be, though.

    Has anyone been able to track down a manufacturer? About all I’ve found is that it isn’t made by AipTek. hehe

    dont buy it.. its a piece of crap..

    I have 2 of them and although it ‘claims’ to store up to 1gig or etc… (my white ipod lookalike actually says it stores 8 gigs when u look at the properties after connecting it to the computer), it really only stores 128mb (or less, the white ipod only stores 108mb).

    also, some people claim to have been able to upload 1gig of music. Although this is true, the first 128mb stored is the only files that’ll run. The rest of the appox 880mb turns into unusable corrupt files.

    to sum up- NEVER buy electronics produced/sold/marketed from china.. clothing and watches on the other hand.. ^^

    All white front, chrome back, looks the mutts nuts.
    Only one ear jack but wait…
    This thing is awesome! Totally useable 1GB capacity. Upped 51 bigger than screen size photos, two episodes of Invasion… AND nearly four decent sized albums as well.
    More importantly, they all played. Video needs to be re-encoded to play better, but that was to be expected and the music… sounds beautiful. The different EQs work well and the screen keeps you fully informed of track/folder info.
    My only gripes? Automatically finishing one album/folder and moving to the next seems to take ages (okay, about thirty seconds) and the dial on the front is slightly ‘niggly’. (But then, I got it second hand from someone who’d had it 3 months and could have been a right heavy handed muttha…
    Still, gotta love it!

    They sell this in an 8 gig version now. Really shocks stupid people who think its a nano playing video. Definatly worth it. Look for a seller names v-elite or somthing on ebay they have a bunch.
