This charger has a cord for every kind of phone, provides 2 hours of talk
time on one AA battery, and comes dressed in an elegant leather pouch. It
retails for $98 at Links of London’s retail location in New York. Essentially this is Charge 2 Go which
retails for $24.99 without tips, this one is just packaged in a shmancy leather
pouch so that you end up getting more than you charged for or err less. But, hey if our cell phone’s can get dressed up in leather, then why can’t our chargers get dressed up too? (Source: New York Magazine, December 2005)

M-Couture Mobile Accessories from Mobile Chaos

By Chip Chick

December 12th, 2005

Packs
Mobile Chaos’s line of M-Couture cases includes a selection of different stylish designs that should satisfy many different tastes. The Sparkle Packs come with silver or pink studs, have an attached belt clip, and fit most flip phones with or without an antennae. These faux diamond-studded cell phone cases are a great alternative to actually sticking fake jewels onto your cell phone. Amongst the Chip Chick Team, the sparkle packs proved to be the most popular. The studded pack case is more suitable for larger phones. It comes in silver and pink, and also comes included with a wrist strap. The Zoo Pack case is probably more suitable for the girl who likes to stand out of the crowd…it comes with a faux fur Zebra or Leopard print, a wrist strap, and it’s big enough to fit most phones.
Finally, the PM Case has a classy rhinestone studded motif running along side its front. It unzips to reveal room for a PDA, Cell Phone or Mp3 Player as well as room for credit cards, and cash, and it comes with a shoulder strap. It’s great for slipping into a purse, or you could wear it alone when you’re out on the town and just want to carry one of your gadgets and some cash without added bulk. Overall, this line of cases from Mobile Chaos make some great stocking stuffers for the lady in your life that appreciates a little flair.

RCA Tries to take a Stab at the Shuffle with the Lyra M1001GB

By Chip Chick

Lyra1gb
Countless companies have tried to one up Apple with a Shuffle competitor –
(i.e. Dell’s DJ
Ditty
, Samsung’s YP-U1X.)
Here is another one to add to the list – RCA ’s Lyra M1001GB is a 1 gig flash
mp3 player with a LCD display, a direct USB connection with a sliding door, it
supports MP3, WMA and WMA DRM files, comes with a neckstrap, and has a rechargeable battery. In
Amazon.com’s holiday print circular, it has the Lyra M1001GB pictured with a
price of $113.99, which definitely seems like good value for 1gb flash player, especially one with a LCD. However, on
their web site there is no price or picture on the Lyra’s product
page
… which is odd. Fortunately J & R has these in stock for $109.99, they also have a 512mb version in blue for $79.99, and a 256mb version in red for $59.99.

Ipod Nano Rip-Off Plays Video and costs Half the Price

02 1 Ipod Nano Rip Off Plays Video and costs Half the Price
With every new ipod product there are countless imitations, does LuxPro ring a bell? Anyway, this latest Nano-ripoff has the potential to wipe the floor with the real thing. The i-Bob looks almost identical to the Nano but it has a bunch of features to hold over the Nano – it plays Video on its 1.5 inch OLED screen, supports wav, wma, mp3, mp4, and asf files, has radio recording, dual earphone ports, an e-book reader, and a photo album viewer. The only aspect that causes this imitation to fall short is that its biggest capacity is 1 gig.  It’s currently retailing on Ebay Australia for a dirt cheap $160 which is about $119 USD. Here is a link to a video of the i-Bob in action. The smaller capacity issue, I can handle for this price, but the name "i-Bob" is a bit much – really, what were they thinking! Can anyone get their hands on one of these to let us know whether this is junk, or just a real steal? (Source: Thanks to Sandy!)

Party Like it’s 1999 with the Hanns.Time Square LCD TV

New Year’s is just a few weeks away. Most people aren’t fortunate enough to watch
the ball drop in person at Times Square in New York, so they end up watching it
on TV. Well how about ringing in the New Year by watching New York live on
Hannspree’s Times.Square LCD TV? The Hanns Time.Square LCD is half sports watch
and half LCD television. It has two hinges on both sides, one with a clock and
one with a thermometer. The hinges open up to reveal a set of speakers. The LCD
itself measures 12 inches and has a standard 4:3 aspect ratio.
This strange but stylish TV retails for $449.99. And In case you’ve never
heard of Hannspree, their web site is worth checking out – they probably make
the most unique themed LCD’s in the world; they have everything from
Disney-themed TV’s – to LCD’s designed like a basketball.

The Skullcandy Audio LINK Pack has a neat snowboarder aesthetic, but aside from it’s good-looks it also has an out-of-the-ordinary feature for a
knapsack; it includes a built-in system that allows you to listen to your music
player and take calls on your cell phone through the bag itself. The bag also
has an amplifier powered by double-A batteries, 60-mm speakers, a headphone
jack, audio controls on the shoulder straps, and it also has special pockets for
glasses, a cell phone, mp3 player, and CD/DVD sleeves. There is also plenty of
room for a laptop inside the Audio LINK Pack, but you’ll need a laptop sleeve to
make sure your laptop is well protected. Skullcandy’s Audio LINK Pack retails
for $169.95 and comes in black and white. PC Magazine reviewed the bag and gave
it a promising 4 out of 5 stars. (Source: PC Magazine, December 27,

The Panda Humidifier

Pandahumi

I’m pretty sure nature hasn’t created a white and blue panda yet, but this humidifier from Crane is adorable even if it is artificial. It has a capacity of a gallon, runs quietly, and turns off automatically if the water should
run out. It also comes in other equally cute animal designs including a frog. The Panda Humidifier retails for $29.99 at Target

Life-size Home Video Arcade plays Several Midway Classics

I’ve never quite understood why some people lay down hundreds of dollars for a big retro arcade that only plays one game. Arguably these are nostalgic pieces of art for many old-school gamers, but until now I’ve never been tempted to buy one. However the Big Games Home Video Arcade is tempting me because it’s a life-size arcade that has a dozen Midway classics including Joust, Defender, Robotron, Bubbles, Sinistar, and more. The Home Video Arcade stands 62” tall and has a built-in, full color monitor. Additional A/V inputs allow you to connect almost any existing home video game system, DVD player, VCR or other A/V product to be plugged in and viewed on its monitor. So if you want to try tricking out this system with a PlayStation 2, you will defanitely be able to impress some of your friends. The Home Video Arcade retails for $500 at MyBigGames.com, but Target has it for $355.00!

World’s First Interchangeable iPod Case

By Chip Chick

December 1st, 2005

Sometimes I get sick of my Ipod’s case and wish I could change the case to match
my mood or my outfit, but with the wide selection of iPod cases out there,
constantly buying a new case for my Nano would leave me penniless. Yes, there
are skins out there that come in many colors and designs, but they can be annoying to
constantly peel on and off. Here is a new solution for this dilemma; iFace
is the world’s first interchangeable iPod case, it has an interchangeable cover
which allows you to change the cover of the case. The iFace’s web site has a large selection of
super funky styles, as well as colors & functions, from different designers
and materials. The five elements cover series has everything from a pink
canvas, denim, and black leather cover, and the hot wave series has everything
from Buddha to Disco-style designs. There is an iFace version for the Nano, and
both the 4th the and 5th generation iPods. The cases retail for an affordable
$24.95 and the covers average a price of $19.95.
