The Mini Statements Mini Desk retails for a whopping £2500 (about $4,422 USD) - almost as much as a decent used car. No matter, since I still need to have it. Want one for yourself? New Editor & Chief of Xbox Magazine is a Girl

January 28, 2006

Oxmcover
Congratulations to Francesca Reyes who just got promoted to the position of Editor & Chief of Xbox Magazine. To the best of our knowledge, she is the first woman to ever be Editor & Chief of an electronic gaming magazine. As a matter of fact, if you skim through most gaming magazines, you’ll notice that female contributors are an extreme minority. On a related note, PC Magazine, and PC Gamer Magazine also recently got a new Editor & Chief, one of our favorite publications - Mobile Magazine went under, and last but not least - Tech Living mag announced that it will only be publishing only two periodicals a year from now on. Something is definitely brewing in the world of technology mags.

VOIP on your Windows Mobile Smartphone with Woize

January 27, 2006

Woize_3
Skype supports many Windows Mobile pocket pc devices, but unfortunately it’s currently unavailable for Windows Mobile Smartphones. There has been a recent surge of of some awesome windows mobile Smartphones on to the market that have wifi capabilities (i.e. I-mate Sp5m & Sp5, and T-mobile USA’s upcoming SDA), which is why it’s so desirable to be able to use these devices for VOIP services. Some of HowardForum’s members have discovered Woize, a Skype alternative that is now available for Windows Smartphones. Unfortunately, the software is beta and has some speaker issues. However some HowardForum members who are using it with a bluetooth headset claim that call quality is excellent but it took some effort to make it work right. We recommend checking out the thread before trying this out.

Crystal Earbuds from Technocel

January 27, 2006

Crystalearbuds_1
Almost a year ago we posted about the Shuga Crystal-Studded Ear Buds. Since then we haven’t seen any other attempts to crystallize earphones - until now (though we certainly have seen crystals turn up on just about anything else). Anyway, we spotted some Crystal Earbuds from Technocel, these are black and silver earbuds with crystals lined up along the side of the ear piece, as well as up along the side of its volume control piece.

Yifyang’s MBox ES601T Mp3 Stereo System with Card Reader

January 26, 2006

Mbox Yifyang’s MBox ES601T stereo system plays MP3, WMA and WAV music files out of its two speakers. You can input music files via its USB port or SD/MMC slot. It also features an AM/FM tuner with 30 preset stations, an LCD display with a white LED backlight, an alarm clock feature, and 5 preprogrammed equalizer modes. Sounds like a nice set of specs, it’s just a shame that they chose an ugly black, white and orange design.

WellMike DX-P139 USB Rechargeable FM Tuner

January 26, 2006

Dxp13902_1
Look ma, no batteries! The DX-P139 from WellMike has a shuffle’esque design, but it’s not an MP3 player, it’s actually a USB rechargeable stereo FM Tuner. The DX-P139 also has a bright LED for displaying the station you’re tuning into. And similarly to the shuffle, it comes with a USB cap that doubles as a neck-strap.

SisterWoman.com Social Networking Site

January 26, 2006

Sisterwoman
SisterWoman.com, which will launch this spring, claims to be the first social networking web site devoted "to women and the celebration of their girlfriendships". The site will feature message boards, calendars, e-mail, electronic invites, ways to shop, and ways to share photos and content. The site will also have an environment that will be accessible wirelessly. Will this be a MySpace clone with a female theme? Certainly seems like it…  guess we’ll find out in the spring. Kool Kase Cell Phone Cases

January 24, 2006

Koolkase
Are faceplates and skins for your phone too tacky for your taste? Instead, how about carrying your phone in a "Kool Kase". Kool Kase is a durable hard plastic cell phone case that comes in a large assortment of colors and designs. Flowers patterns, the United States Flag, glitter, flames - they have something for everyone - or anyone who would be confident enough to wear one of these. The case fits many different types of cell phones. It also comes with a metal necklace ring and a swivel plastic clip. The Kool Kase home page is only has information for wholesale buyers, so there is no mention of a retail price or where you can purchase these. But something tells us that you could find these at a cell phone retailer near you… or in China town.

Louis Vuitton Classic Ipod Cover

January 22, 2006

Louisvuitton
A new day, a new really expensive Ipod case. The Louis Vuitton Classic Ipod Cover by Takashi Murakami has a monogram multicolor canvas with peach natural calf leather lining and golden brass pieces. It also has a flap closure with press studs, and a ring for a shoulder strap and belt loop on the back. There is no price for this case listed on the Louis Vuitton web site, but the last Louis Vuitton Ipod Case we spotted retailed for $285, so chances are that this one will cost about as much as an actual Ipod as well.
