CES 2006: Amoi’s F6 Pink Phone with Butterfly Accent

By Chip Chick

January 9th, 2006

Amoif6
Amoi mobile phones are almost non existant on this continent, so all we can do is gawk at some of their phone’s uber girly designs from afar. Ok, well maybe gawk isn’t the word. Personally, butterflies don’t do it for me, but many gals would love Amoi’s F6. Under the hood the F6 is a sublimely standard flip phone with a 1.5 inch 65k color display on the inside and a 1 inch 4k color display on the outside. It supports polyphonic ringtones, MMS, and GPRS. Yeh… no camera, no mp3 player, no special tricks. However, if you care more about style over substance and you love pink, then you will love the F6.

CES 2006: Sungale MP3-638 Pink Personal Media Player

By Chip Chick

January 9th, 2006

Mp3638Sungale’s very small MP3-638 personal media player doesn’t have the swankiest design but it does come in a choice of colors – pink, green, white and black. The media player features a 1.2 inch 65k OLED screen for watching Mpeg-4 videos or browsing JPEG photos. As for audio, it plays back MP3, WMA, ASV and Wav files. The Mp3-638 comes in, 128mb, 256mb, 512mb, and 1GB versions. Chances of this PMP ever leaving Asia are slim, but it was at C.E.S., and hey a girl can dream.

CES 2006: Portable MP3 SD/MMC Speaker System

By Chip Chick

January 8th, 2006

Dxp1352
The DX-P135 from Wellmike Enterprises is set to give the Philips PSS1220 its first competition. Similar to Philips portable ShoqBox, the DX-P135 is a portable speaker system that plays MP3s. However, unlike Philips version, the DX-P135’s memory is expandable to up to 1GB via an SD/MMC card reader. The DX-P135 speaker system can be powered via 4 AA batteries or a 5V DC adapter and it will probably be much more affordable then Philip’s system. Did we mention that its also cute?

CES 2006: MOMO MP 35 Personal Media Player with Lots of Bells & Whistles

By Chip Chick

January 8th, 2006

Momo
We’re not crazy about the design, but where it lacks in looks, the MOMO MP 35 makes up for under the hood. The MP 35 from E-Top Leaddata Inc. has a 3.6 inch TFT LCD display that supports 320 x 240 resolution at 30fps. Its battery will last for up to 5 hours of video or 10 hours of audio listening, it has an FM tuner, it comes in capacities of 20GB through 60GB and also has an SD/MMC expansion slot, and it plays back MPEG-4 video files and Mp3 audio files. What’s particularly cool about the MOMO is that it has a 3.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor for taking pictures and it also has a built-in camcorder function. Expect to never see this state side.

J0044Just started a new relationship? Freak out your date with these Lover USB keys from AData. Nothing reeks with stalker potential more then these two little guys. CES 2006: USB Flash Drive with Multi-Card Reader

By Chip Chick

January 8th, 2006

Didigo
There are tons of USB Flash drives out there, and there are also tons of USB card readers floating around, but until now we’ve never seen a USB Flash Drive that is also a Multi-card reader. Didigo has USB Flash Drives with Multi-Card Readers in 128mb, 256mb, 512mb, and 1gb capacities. The flash drives read SD & MMC cards and come in the colors red, blue, green and black.

CES 2006: Necklace PMP from X-Micro

By Chip Chick

January 8th, 2006

Img_0748This little Personal Media player from X-Micro is designed to wear as a necklace. It has a full color OLED display with 65k colors, a text and photo viewer, an FM radio, it plays Mp3 and WMA files, records voice as WAV or ASF files, and it recharges via a USB cable. It will be available in 256mb, 512mb and 1gb versions. This little charm measures 54mm wide by 16.5mm high. With the actual display taking up about 1/5th of device – who would actually want to watch videos on this thing? This PMP is probably better off suited as a conversation piece as opposed to being used even as an occasional media viewing device.

CES 2006: Homer Simpson, Superman & Other Characters on your 5G Ipod

By Chip Chick

January 8th, 2006

Iconz
There are a lot of companies at C.E.S. sporting their new 5G ipod cases, but of all of them the Iconz series from XtremeMac has the most character… literally. There is a Batman, Superman, Tweety, Star Wars, Homer Simpson, and a Speed Racer version of the case. Most of the 5G Ipod cases available now are either boring and drab neoprene cases, or they are bulky leather or plastic cases. However, the Iconz Characters cases thoroughly protect the face of your iPod without adding bulk to it. They also have a translucent back which is convenient if you have an engraving on your Ipod. The Iconz Character cases should be on sale very soon, but if you can’t wait and you have an Ipod Nano, there are already Iconz cases for the Ipod Nano available for $19.99.

Skwarim_pink
Is LaCie’s Skwarim the world’s first hard drive with a hot pink shell? If the pink color of the 30GB version doesn’t do it for you, it also comes in a blue 60GB version. The Skwarim hard drives are USB 2.0 powered, they have a 4,200 RPM drive spinning inside, they work cross platform, weigh just 3.5 oz, and they will fit in the palm of your hand.

CES 2006: Teddy Bear Speaker System for your iPod and other Fun New Electronics from Sakar

By Chip Chick

January 6th, 2006

Sakar
Sakar International
has a new line of electronics geared towards women and girls. Amongst them is the SoundPal which is a plush Teddy-bear with a built-in speaker system as well as a secret carrying compartment for your iPod, CD player or mp3 player. The little guy even has a built-in AM/FM tuner. The SoundPal is powered by 4 AAA batteries and will retail for $29.99.
The SoundPal isn’t the only unusual set of speakers they are going to be distributing. They also have a portable CD/MP3 that not only protects your music player – it also has a built-in amplified speaker so that you can listen to music directly from your carrying case. The CD/MP3 Sound case comes in several colors including pink.
Sakar also introduced another similar Sound Case with a built-in speaker. The Mp3 Sound Case can even be worn via an included carabiner hook. The case fits the IPod Nano, Shuffle and Mini.
They also had a 3 in 1 digital camera on display that takes pictures, shoots video, and can also be used as a web cam. The camera comes in pink, white or lime green with a jewel styling and would probaly be a hit amongst preteen girls.
Overall these products are great because they are pretty unique – but the best part is that Sakar’s prices are always reasonably priced. It’s a shame that C.E.S. didn’t come out in December, because these would have made great stocking stuffers.

CES 2006: GameKeeper PSP Cases for Men & Women

By Chip Chick

January 5th, 2006

Gamekeeper GameKeeper is a new line of gaming bags that debuted at CES’s Innovations Plus Event. One of their cases superficially caught our eyes – their portable gaming case is an affordable little bag you can use to tote around your PlayStation Portable or Nintendo DS in. It has a handle on top for easy traveling and a separate section to store PSP or DS cartridges. The bag will retail for $9.99, and it will come in a male version in black and blue and a female version in white and pink.

CES 2006: Internet Radio in your Pocket with InFusion

By Chip Chick

January 5th, 2006

Infusion_1
Can’t decide between XM or Sirius? How about screwing them all and going with InFusion’s portable internet radio device. It’s lightweight, portable, has a nice design and best of all – there are no pesky subscription fees. It even plays back Mp3, WMA and Real Audio files via an SD/MMC card slot. There is also an FM tuner inside. The InFusion weighs 100 grams and measures 78 mm x 57 mm x 20 mm, in other words it is totally pocketable. The only catch it seems is that the device connects to internet radio stations via 802.11b/g – which most people won’t have in their cars. The InFusion also has 16 customizable presets, a LCD with a Blue back light color, and a 3.5mm earphone jack. It’s expected to retail for $199.

CES 2006: New Logitech Mice Designed for Kids

By Chip Chick

January 4th, 2006

Logfunmice
This new line of optical corded mice from Logitech have been designed with children in mind, yet I know some adults who would be tempted to to buy these mice because they are so adorable. These  mice come in 4 designs including a tiger, leopard, spot (dog foot prints), and flower theme. All of the mice are designed to fit a child’s hand. These mice will work with both a PC and a Mac and will retail for $14.99.

CES 2006: Asus S6F Ultraportable Laptop with Pink Crocodile Leather Styling

Tonight at C.E.S.’s Unveiled press preview event, a couple of companies showed off some of the products that they will be showcasing at C.E.S. tomorrow. Asus is recognized for making some beautifully designed laptops – the W3v and W6v to name a few, but one of their latest laptops completely blew us away. The upcoming Asus S6F has pink crocodile leather covering the top of the laptop and the wrist area inside. The laptop looks classy, feminine, and hip. The S6F has a 11.1 inch ultra-bright widescreen display, and features centrino mobile technology duo (not sure quite what chip that is referring to, is that the new dual core technology?). The weight of the laptop is somewhere between 3 and 4 pounds. We couldn’t get an exact weight because the model on display was a prototype. However, the Asus representative confirmed that the S6F should be on sale during Q1 2006, unfortunately it will be sold in limited release via a partnership with Prada – which means its price will probably be sky high.

T-mobile to Release SDA Windows Mobile Smartphone with My Hump, My Hump, My Hump

By Chip Chick

January 3rd, 2006

Sda
According to Laptop Magazine’s January issue, T-mobile USA should be announcing its SDA smartphone which has the same specifications as the I-mate SP5m, and also looks almost identical to the I-mate SP5m. Unfortunately T-mobile’s version has an ugly hump on top. The T-mobile SDA would have the same specifications and features as Cingular’s 2125 which also sports an ugly hump, but doesn’t have Wifi. Confusing? Yes. But the point of it all is that these are excellent phones. I’ve been using the I-mate SP5m for a month, and I am pretty smitten. The 2.2 inch 320 x 240 pixel screen is spectacular for Internet browsing and watching videos. The phone even has dedicated music player buttons, external storage via a mini SD slot, EDGE, Wifi, Bluetooth, and a 200 mhz omap processor, running on the powerful Windows Mobile 5.0. Unfortunately I paid a pretty penny for it, but if T-mobile brings its own version stateside that will mean a significant price drop for its customers. According to Laptop Magazine, the phone will retail for $299 with a one year contract, which is a heck of a lot better then an average retail price of $599 for the I-mate SP5m.

We’re headed to Las Vegas tonight for the US Consumer Electronics Show, the mother of all gadget events. So hold onto your RSS readers, or keep refreshing come Wednesday. We’re going to do our best to get the scoop on 2006’s upcoming tech, especially if it comes in pink or is just plain pretty.

Tavo Gloves for your iPod

By Chip Chick

January 2nd, 2006

Gloves_1The iPod’s touchpad is a pleasure to use unless you’re outside in cold
weather, which almost always requires taking off your gloves each time
you want to adjust the volume or browse through tracks. These special
gloves from Tavo save you from that tedious task. The thumb and index finger tips are made of nylon
strands coated with silver alloy which allow you to work any  touchpad
with no problem. The gloves retail for $35. And if you have the iPod Nano, with the way it scratches so easily, you might want to keep these gloves on even when it’s not cold.

Caravan, the Boutique on Wheels

By Chip Chick

January 2nd, 2006

Caravan_1Caravan is one of New York City’s hottest new boutiques, and probably the most unusual of all of them because it’s actually a whole shop on wheels. The only way to track down Caravan is by getting real-time GPS coordinates from its web site. Inside Caravan’s 240 foots Winnebago is clothing and art for sale, a GPS transmitter, a plasma screen, a wireless credit card processing unit, and a system that has receipts emailed to customers. (Source: Wired Magazine, January 2006)
Could there be a future for more shops on wheels like Caravan? Online shopping is great because you can shop from home, but shopping for certain products can be aggravating – especially when it comes to clothing which you usually need to try on first. But what if one day you had the whole store actually come to you? You heard it here first.

Parrot 3200 LS-Color Bluetooth Hands-free Car Kit with Caller ID Photo Display

By Chip Chick

January 2nd, 2006

Parrot3200lscolorsmall_1
Bluetooth headsets are great hands-free solutions, but after a while, even the lightest headset can become uncomfortable. The Parrot 3200 LS-Color Bluetooth Hands-free car kit is a great alternative to a regular bluetooth headset, as long as you’re in a car. The 3200 is the first Bluetooth hands-free car kit with a color LCD. It has a TFT LCD display with a caller ID photo display so that you can actually see a picture of who is calling. Of course in order to make that work, you have to store the photos on the device, or if photos are stored with your phone contacts, they can be displayed on the screen as well. The 3200 also features voice recognition for up to 150 names, a customizable interface with wallpapers, and Hi-Fi polyphonic ringtones.
