Can a GSM Girl Make the Transition to Sprint’s CDMA World? Part II
Afer having joined Sprint’s Ambassador program,
I’ve been continuing to use Sprint’s service for the past two weeks, so here are my latest thoughts and rants.
I was excited to discover that their multimedia content offers a large selection of games to purchase - Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within, Bejeweled, Zuma - just to name a few. However, much to my chagrin, when I selected most of these games to purchase and download, I received a message that they’re not available. What a tease! So far I’ve only been able to successfully download one game from the ones that I personally chose - the Sims 2. At-least it did download very quickly.
Also, last time I raved about the Music Store, and I still stand behind what i said, but I now have a few gripes - though Sprint isn’t necessarily to blame. Whenever you purchase a music download on your phone, the $2.50 charge includes a WMA files that you can download from your computer. Logging into to access the music tracks I had purchased, was a very smooth and simple experience - but then things got a bit rocky. When I tried playing the file in Windows Media player, I got a dialog box notifying me that I needed to update Windows Media Player in order to play the file. Then once I updated the software, I had to restart my computer. I then loaded Windows Media Player and opened one of the files. Another dialog box popped up, notifying me that Windows Media Player has to acquire legal permission to play the file. It only took a moment for it to get "permission" for me to play it, but overall the whole experience frustrated me. However, I blame the RIAA, and not really Sprint. After all, if you’re going to require DRM, can’t you at-least make it less frustrating?
