Samsung’s Micro Mp3 Player, the YP-F2

By Chip Chick

March 15th, 2006

Ypf2
Samsung’s YP-F2 weighs just 21 grams but will be available in capacities of 512mb, 1GB and even 2GB. It plays MP3, WMA, OGG and WAV audio formats and has a just-decent battery life of 12 hours. But who cares if the battery life isn’t so great – the YP-F2 is tiny yet still manages to fit in a LCD screen! And it can easily be worn as a necklace without feeling any strain. It will be available in April in the colors black and white. (Source: T3)

Neo Mini PMP Supports an Assortment of Video Files

By Chip Chick

March 14th, 2006

Neomini
A new day, a new video player from a company we’ve never heard of. The Neo Mini is a 1 gigabyte Personal Media Player that supports MPEG, Quicktime, AVI, and Windows Media video files – which is actually an impressive wide range of video formats. It also supports BMP, GIF, JPEG, and PNG image formats. It has an FM radio with 30 presets, and a built-in mic for voice recording. There is no mention of support for MP3, AAC, WMA or any other popular audio format – which is strange since we can’t imagine that it doesn’t function as a digital audio player as well.
It’s display is made up of a 65k OLED screen which sounds promising until we discovered that the display is only 96 x 96 pixels. The Neo Mini measures 39mm x 58mm x 11mm, weighs just 29.5 grams, and has a battery life of 4 hours for video.

Upcoming HTC Star Trek will come in Several Colors, including Pink

By Chip Chick

March 14th, 2006

Htcstartrekpink_1
The upcoming HTC Star Trek can be described as the Windows Mobile answer to the RAZR – it’s a super thin flip phone that emulates a lot of the RAZRs style, but is miles ahead of the RAZR in terms of performance and features. PocketPCItalia reviewed the device and claims that the HTC Star Trek will come in a couple of different colors – including pink, which would make it the first pink Windows Mobile flip phone. We’re drooling in anticipation. (Source: Smartphone Thoughts)

We’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t agree that the iMac is a work of art. But with all its good looks, we’ve always thought it lacked color. Mactallics allow you to change the color of your iMac from white to a shiny blue, pink, green, orange, or black. They also have a silver anodized finish that resists stains and scratches. Mactallics for the 17" iMac retail for $39.95 and Mactallics for the 20" iMac retails for $44.95. Unfortunately, they’re currently sold out!

Philips Pronto SRU9600 Remote Control with LCD Touchscreen

By Chip Chick

March 12th, 2006

Philipspronto
In the past, remote controls haven’t excited us much. Most of the ones out there are drab-looking, while the few ones that look and act cool tend to be very expensive. And who wants to spend your hard earned cash on a remote control when there are so much more exciting gadgets you can spend your money on? The upcoming Philips Pronto SRU9600 is so slick, it might just make us change our minds about remote controls. It has an LCD touchscreen, it can connect to up to eight different devices and it will only display the buttons that are relevant to the device you are controlling. It should be available this month for about $150. Meanwhile, you can check out a video of it from Cnet. (Source: T3 Magazine. March 2006)

Usbbeveragechiller
A while back we posted about the USB cup warmer which we thought to be a one-of-a-kind gadget. Well, we’ve just been proven wrong. Coolit Systems has a USB Beverage Chiller with a coldplate that chills your beverage to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. If they keep coming out with USB gadgets like this one, there will  never be a reason to get up from the computer. We’re just waiting for the USB toilet to show up somewhere.

Aural New York Headphones Mini-Review & Win It!

By Leah Cheng

March 9th, 2006

Auralny
On the subway in a sea of white cords, I’m rockin’ the pink headphones from Aural New York. Talk about being a girly gadget girl. The pink itself doesn’t match my iPod Mini perfectly, but good enough. They come with two sets of ear bud cushions, black and white. But with the white cushions on, they can pass for light pink headphones. Aside from that, the quality of the sound is good and on par with the sound quality of the standard iPod ear phones. All in all, not too shabby for a mere $15.

By Chip Chick

Just Say No to Microsoft Word with Writely

By Chip Chick

March 6th, 2006

Writely
I’m not much of a fan of Microsoft Word, but unfortunately it’s one of those necessary evils that you just can’t live with out. There are plenty of software alternatives that you can purchase and even download for free, but our latest favorite Word Processor doesn’t require a download or even an installation. Writely is a free online word processor that allows you to read and write .RTF and .DOC ( Microsoft Word documents), and save them as PDFs. Writely works on Internet Explorer 5.5 and up, and most versions of Firefox and Mozilla. Aside from having most of the basic word processor capabilities, you can also use Writely to post to your Blog. Or you can have Writely email your document to a select group of people, and they’ll receive an email with a password giving them access to your document. So what’s the catch? No internet connection, means having no word processor, and the slower your internet connection is, the slower Writely will respond. But who can complain when it’s free!

Rosesurprise_2346_stDisclaimer: We’re not exactly sure how this works, or err, how safe it is. Rose Suprise is a table
firework that explodes into a shower of scented rose petals. But how
do the rose petals stay fresh, unless they’re fake? Regardless, it
could make for a unique romantic sentiment. It retails for $26.00 at Bim Bam Banana -Leah Cheng
