Today as I sifted through the bills in my wallet in search for a five dollar bill, I noticed that there was text printed on one of my bills that was ordinarily not there. The words "WheresGeorge.com" were printed on areas of the bill. First I sort of panicked and assumed that someone had exchanged a counterfeit bill with me. But I decided not to jump the gun just yet, so I headed over to WheresGeorge.com. It turns out that WheresGeorge.com is a web site that tracks the travels of dollar bills through circulation around the country. Its users log on to the site to follow the paths of their cash after it leaves their hands. Most of the users mark their bills with the "WheresGeorge.com". The site has a large community of followers whom visit their forums, many members have user profiles, and there is even a George Store. Maybe they should call this the Cult of George. Thousands of people obsessed with money? Who ever heard of such a thing!

I had joined this site a couple of years ago when I noticed a dollar bill with WheresGeorge. If I remember correctly, I think my bill ended up in Kentucky (from Detroit). I haven’t been back to the site since then and, honestly, had forgotten about it until I saw this post

It is a fun and addicting site. I always love to see where my bills end up. So if you see a marked bill, please enter it folks. It will make someones day to see they have a hit on their bill.
