As if the iPod was growing short of useful things that you can do with it, the folks over at iTRAIN have created ten core workouts to download to your iPod or mp3 player. The workouts include iTread, iClimb, iCycle, iSculpt and iStretch. You can sign up for a yearly package of iTrain workouts for $49.99, a monthly package for $9.99, or a la carte starting at $0.99. iTrain does seem pretty similar to iWorkout’s offerrings, except that iWorkout also offers workout videos for your iPod. However, we can’t imagine how you could successfully follow a workout video on a 2 inch screen. (Source: Laptop Magazine, August 2006)

The whole iPod training thing seems like quite the craze right now. I wonder if it is just a fad or if it is really going to catch on and become a mainstay in fitness. I suppose if you don’t know how to properly perform an exercise, watching a video would be very helpful. I think video is where it is at. I personally would rather watch a see hwo to perform an exercise than listen to someone counting off reps. IWorkout seems like they have a really good system. I just ran across another company doing something similar: http://www.tisfitnesssystems.com
Who knows, maybe we’ll all be wearing our iPods at the gym soon….
