We’re sick of cheap Nano rip-offs, but this one is so cheap that someone out there might want to give it a chance. Fuji Labs’ VM3321-BK looks like the illegitimate child of a Nano and an LG Chocolate phone. It has a 1.5" inch color display, a super slim body, it plays MP3/WAV/WMA/MTV formats, it has an FM tuner and FM & Voice recoding capabilities, several EQ Modes, a synschronized lyric/ID3 display and it comes in formats ranging in size from 128mb to 4GB. Newegg is currently selling the 1GB model for $59.99 as an open box item.

The price is great for a 1GB MP3 player; plenty of storage. Styling and form factor are also very nice. Sound quality is good. Videos on it look sharp; nice display. However, the actual functionality is a bit lacking. I have found I cannot use it to play any protected content. For me, this means I cannot play any of the music I downloaded from MusicMatch. Given that this was kind of the whole point of getting an MP3 player, this is a pretty big drawback. The other let down is there is no good way to categorize music. No selection of listening to a single artist or genre or anything. Just one big playlist. Overall, pretty disappointing. With the right operating system, this could be a great device.
