Like many other Apple Products, the new Macbook’s are deigned with a beautiful
simplicity. Unfortunately their Glossy exteriors tend to get easily scratched up
and dirty, much more so then the average PC notebook. Marware has come out with
a Protection Pack for the MacBook. The Protection pack includes
a removable hand rest that protects your MacBook from scratches while
also adding a layer of cushioning that provides ergonomic benefits. The second
piece included in the Protection Pack is a keyboard cover that also doubles as a
screen cleaner.
Think of the Protection Pack as an investment that will keep your
Macbook in good condition for Ebay one day. The Protection Pack is available in
black or white, and retails for $19.95.

4 in 1 Network Cable Kit

GE’s 4-in-1 Network Cable Kit won’t make your heart pound, but for $15, it’s an affordable convenience to carry along in your bag. This retractable cable kit comes complete with 4ft of a USB mini cable, a built-in adapter for a standard USB cable, as well as a network and modem cable. If anything,  this is a great kissing-up gift to give to the IT guy.

Interestingly enough, both Targus and Kensington offer an almost identical kit, which they call a 3-in-1 Kit as opposed to a 4-in-1.
If only any of these kits had managed to fit a firewire cable inside, we would want one too. However, just in case you are looking for a good deal on retractable cable kit, Amazon has the Cables To Go Kit for 28268 Retractable Cable Kit for $14.99.  This kit packs in everything but the kitchen sink, but each cable is a separate entity.

Aside from using it for voice calls, it will also be able to pair up with gaming and music devices. 800d B&Ws Beautiful 800D Speaker System
Bowers & Wilkins 800D isn’t just an incredibly powerful and beautifully sounding speaker system, it’s also a work of art that will make your living room look and sound like a million bucks. The 800D is built with Kevlar cones and diamond tweeter which is meant to impress. Honestly, we don’t know quite what that adds up to, but it certainly sounds good on paper. Unfortunately, at the price of £13,000 (about $24,490 USD) you might need to be a millionaire to afford it.

D-Box Quest Motion Simulator Chair for the Home Theater

By Chip Chick

August 17th, 2006
Prod_quest_seating_1We’ve seen other cushy chairs, like Sybaris, that use motion to help immerse you into a movie. D-Box’s Quest Chair follows this trend by having a suspension system  that lifts and moves in sync with the action that you are watching on DVD. If that isn’t swanky enough, the chair will put some moves on you with its heat and massage features. Of course, this little roller coaster ride for your home cinema will cost you a pretty penny – somewhere around at least $7,000 pretty pennies to be exact. But for that price you can go all out by customizing the chair with your choice of leather or nu-suede, and you also get to choose from one of ten available  colors.

Cingular Brings Really Fast Food to the Ball park

By Kevin Geter

August 16th, 2006

Stats and instant replay delivered to your cell phone are great, but how about not standing in the beer line for half an hour and missing the big play? Cingular has teamed up with the NBA Atlanta Hawks and National Hockey League Thrashers to test out NFC (near-field communication), which will provide season ticket-holders at Phillips Arena with a way to beat the lines. Right now, the technology is limited (you need a specific Nokia phone and a Chase Visa account), but it is being tested, and the idea is ingenious: Point your phone at a vending booth, order your food, and pay for it with your phone; then all you have to do is pick it up–instead of wasting time standing in line or fiddling with your wallet or purse. Perhaps, it’s not as easy as walking to your fridge and grabbing a cold one, but it’s a start—-and your fridge isn’t in the tenth row or mid court, is it? – Kevin Geter

Track Your Book Collection Online with LibraryThing

By Kevin Geter

Librarything
If you’re looking for a convenient and an easy way to catalog and share your book collection, then LibraryThing Beta is for you. This handy on-line tool enables one to list up to 200 of their favorite books for Free; for over 200 books it costs $10 for a yearly membership and $25 for a lifetime membership. You can also browse other people’s catalogs, connect with other book lovers and get recommendations. One sore spot that some may find in using this service is that you can’t expose your online book categories solely to specific friends and family–it’s either completely private or completely public.  Lastly, I managed to input 10 books in less than 7 minutes (typing in the name of your book or the author fills in almost all in the necessary information). All in all, Librarything rocks and I highly recommend it. – Kevin Geter

Artdio’s SS-100 True USB Voip Speaker

By Chip Chick

August 13th, 2006

At first glance, you’re probably thinking what the heck is that? You’d never guess that it’s a USB Speaker for use with Voip software like Skype. Artdio’s SS-100 True USB Voip Speaker has a mic with noise suppression and Echo Cancellation Technology to ensure good quality conversation when VoIPing (is that tech slang or what). It also has a Mono Speaker which you can use to play back music – though we’re not sure why you’d want to listen to music on a mono speaker. What is cool about using it to play back music is that when connected to Skype, it has an automatic music pause and resume function for outgoing and incoming calls when music is playing in Winamp, Windows Media Player and iTunes. The SS-100 is USB powered, so there are no batteries or AC adapters required. Artdio’s SS-100 True USB Voip Speaker retails for $29.95 at VOIP Supply.
