Tglo, from the makers of Glophone, is another software based VOIP service that is now offerring free phone outgoing phone calls in the U.S. Their system appears to be ad supported, which we dont mind since the service does work well enough.
Unfortunately the system is a bit of a mess. The software interface is confusing and it requires having your web browser open in order to be able to log into the service and to be able to dial a phone number. When you hit the “Call Any Phone” link, a separate window opens up with a dial pad which is somehow connected to the TGLO software interface. However, we can’t complain too much since it is free after all. The good news is that Tglo is compatible with Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Aside from a messy interface, Tglo does sport some cool free features such as SMS, Voicemail and instant messaging. If you live in the U.S. you’ll probaly want to stick with Skype for now while Skype is still offerring free unilmited phone calls to the U.S. and Canada. However, people who live outside North America, and can’t take advantage of that freebie, might want to check Tglo out so that they can call their friends in the U.S.
