Crumpler Photo Bags Review
Many digital and non-digital
cameras come with a camera bag, which tend to be like a thin leather Sheath. These cases, prevent dust from getting on the lens, but they otherwise donât do much to protect the camera. Crumpler, an
Australian bag manufacturer, has a line of camera bags designed not
only to look good, but to keep your expensive camera and its
accessories from getting damaged.
Crumpler’s Photo bags look like miniature versions of their messenger bags, so you don’t have to worry about advertising that you are carrying around expensive electronics. What I love the most is how well made and durable the bags are. These bags are made to be tough. They all feature a water resistant nylon shell with rip-stop nylon lining and industrial webbing. The velcro flap is so strong that you have to actually give it a yank. In addition, they also have a clip/buckle release over the velcro to keep the bag super safe. The interior is also very well padded. I was surprised at how soft and thick it was. There are also lots of pockets for extra batteries and memory cards. They thought of every minute detail, down to the size 10 zippers, which are big and unbreakable.
The
Bundle Camera Bag L [4.72â x 6.69â x 3.94â] is shown above in red/burgundy
with white piping. The padded main compartment is a sunny yellow. It
can fit any standard ultra compact digital camera, it has a front
pocket on the outside with a mesh pocket within an adjustable and
removable shoulder strap, and a velcro belt loop. It’s available in 3
sizes, and 4 colors. Retails for $28.
The 2 Million Dollar Home Camera/Camcorder Bag [6.7â x 7.5â x 3.5â]
is also shown above in Black/Gun Metal. The interior is a pale sky blue. The main
compartment has configurable dividers. I put my camera in one and a
phone in the other. It has five pockets and an adjustable removable
shoulder strap, so you can use the bag as an everyday purse. It’s suitable
for a compact electronic viewfinder (EVF), ultra zoom digital camera,
handy (palm) mini DV cam, SLRs and basic accessories. It’s available in
7 sizes, and 4 colors. Retails for $35
In
NYC, Crumpler has two retail locations, one in SOHO on 45 Spring Street
and the other in the West Village at 49 8th Ave). The latter is a
custom bag shop that allows you to customize your own bag from start to
finish. You can also find their bags at Circuit City.
Overall, Crumpler’s Photo bags are very affordable, and they look
great while still being very practical. Also, the fact that they are
available in so many sizes and colors, means that these bags will fit
the fashion requirements of all different types of techies. The
Crumpler Photo Bags are definitely a wise investment for your
