20051005 NetZero Offers Free Private Phone Number with Voicemail
We’re not sure how long this has been around… or whether or not there is a catch. But NetZero is offerring a free private phone number with voice mail. For us New Yorkers, they have a selection of 718, 646 and 347 area codes. And they even give you the option of being notified of a new voicemail via text message or email alert. We love freebies, but we’re a bit nervous… after all, didn’t NetZero start out as a free service which went on to buying out most of the other free dial up providers… and then went on to charging for its services?

Heard of it, one of my friends uses it. I checked it out too when I was selling my car on CL. Decent service but not the best for advertising.

Found one, myadbox.com, specific for classified advertisers. Gives you a toll-free number, email address, all disposable and affordable. They even give you a webpage to display your product. Just to give you info on more options!

Another option where you can have phone calls forwarded straight to your your real number instead of a voicemail. spokenbuzz.com

I found it is more believable when giving a number to someone and you dont want them to know it is one of these new fake phone numbers. I also use it make outgoing phone calls and have it set my caller id to the spokenbuzz number instead of my home or cell number.

Love the service. Use it for our cheer group and also for my own use. So with two numbers being used, I have no complaints and find it very useful in my personal experience when applying for things that require a phone number. That way I can weed out the crap and not constantly have my phone ringing. Been using it for over a year now.
