Sony’s VAIO VGC-LS1 All-in-One Desktop PC Tries to Out Shine the iMac

vgcls1 Sonys VAIO VGC LS1 All in One Desktop PC Tries to Out Shine the iMac
Sony’s VAIO VGC-LS1 All-in-One Desktop PC has the looks and goods to make a decent iMac alternative. The VGC-LS1 has a PC hiding inside its 19″ XBRITE flat panel widescreen display which sits inside a clear polycarbonate base. The PC also has a built-in web cam and mic and a TV tuner with DVR capabilities. At the heart of the VGC-LS1 is a Core Duo 1.83GHZ processor running with Windows Media Center, a generous 2GB of ram, and a 250GB hard drive. The VGC-LS1′s package also includes a wireless mouse and keyboard, and you get all of this for $2,099. Unfortunately, the VGC-LS1 is lacking in an important area – it doesn’t have a dedicated video card, which is a shame because it almost had us at hello.

I almost started salivating. And then you mentioned the graphics card.

I don’t know what they were thinking putting so much power into a machine then skimping out on the graphics.

Seeing as the monitor is built in, I’m assuming that the upgrade possibilities are limited at best.
