Jabra BT125 Bluetooth Headset Review

Jabra is fastidiously becoming one of the world leaders in providing
quality craftsmanship, technological innovation as well as stylishly-chic
creativity to it’s Bluetooth devices. And the Jabra BT125 Bluetooth
headset continues in that tradition. After spending a little more than a week
putting this device to the test, I was very pleasantly surprised. The initial set up of
the BT125 involved charging the unit for two hours and then pairing it with my
Black Berry 7105t which was a cinch using Jabra’s very intuitive one touch
set-up. Also, Jabra did an excellent job with the easy to read and understand
user manual. As a matter of fact, taking a few minutes to go through the
documentation answered all of my questions.
Also, I found that the
controls on the BT125 were easy to operate as well as navigate. The volume is
controlled on the side of the unit, and the on/off button and other functions
are controlled using the indicator (LED) light that sits on the center earpiece
of this headset. The detachable and adjustable ear hook is also a nice touch
because it comes right out of the ear piece and can be inserted for one to wear
either on the left or the right ear, and the movable ear hook swivels all the way
around, thus, allowing one to comfortably position the headset. Weighing
only a mere 1/2 an ounce, this headset feels super light on my ear. Also, all
incoming and out-going calls are very clear and crisp via the headset, and the
volume control provided more than enough volume for when I use the headset
in a loud environment such as a shopping mall.
and its simple but very urban design can comfortably blend into any setting for
fashion conscious folks who like to be inconspicuous. And although, the BT125
lacks the over-all funkiness of the BT160 in terms of inter-changeable face
BT125’s ability to answer and to end calls, reject calls, voice dial, activate call
waiting, and to place a call on hold as well as re-dial the last number called
or received (these features are device dependent), sets this device head and
shoulders above most Bluetooth headsets.

The cool looking blue light
indicator (LED) gives the status of the Bluetooth in terms of it’s battery or
standby state. This unit also comes with an AC power supply and USB cable which
provides juice to the internal rechargeable battery. And the folks at Jabra were
dead on in estimating that the talk time is up to 8 hours and the standby time
up to 170 hours. As a matter of fact, I averaged an impressive 9.5 hours of talk
time before my unit needed a recharge. Also, the Jabra BT125 eagerly and
impressively handled the suggested operating range of 33 feet without nary a
dropout.
All in all, I was very happy with this Bluetooth headset and I think
it confidently answered the call. However, I have two minor caveats about
this device: Jabra should consider throwing in the optional USB PC charge cable
at no extra cost and they could stand to make the volume button a bit wider as
some may find it rather difficult when pressing the volume control up and down.
In spite of these minor miscues, I can still see this Bluetooth headset being a
sure fire stocking stuffer for the cell phone tech addict on your gift
list.- Kevin Geter
The Good:
