Aigo’s Oakley Inspired F566 Mp3 Sunglasses

By Chip Chick

November 19th, 2006

Aigasunglasses
We’re totally stumped about what inspired Aigo’s design for their pair of F566 MP3 sunglasses. Long Pause. NOT. Aigo’s pair of MP3 sunglasses also plays WMA files and functions as a mass storage device and it has voice recording features. Aigo’s F566 is available in 128MB/256MB/512M/1G capacities and it claims to have a very pathetic 6.5 hour battery life. Unless, they push these out at a lot cheaper then Oakley’s versions, they don’t stand a chance.

Hip Pop Pets Aim to Compete with iDog and Friends

By Chip Chick

Bestbrandsclub_1922_6208411_2
You know that you have made it big when other companies start making imitations of your products. Hip Pop Pets are essentially the same concept as Hasbro’s i-Dog, i-Cat and i-Fish. (By the way, congrats to the i-Dog and the recent birth of the i-Dog Pup). Similarly, there are a couple of Hip Pop Pets to choose from – an owl, froggy, piggy and dog. And just like Hasbro’s pets, the Hip Pop Pets dance to your mp3 player’s tunes while pumping out music via their built in speakers. They also have an interactive mode that "turns out built-in sound and music through a CDS sensor for double the fun." Ok, we would be lying if we said we understand exactly what that mode does.
Overall, the Hip Pop Pets function the same way as the i-Dog, are about the same size as the i-Dog, and they look similar to the i-Dog and his pals. The Hip Pop Pets do have an advantage though, a Hip Pop Pet Doggy retails for $19.99, while an i-Dog retails for $29.99. If you’d like a Hip Pop Pet Doggy for yourself, check out your local Radio Shack, or you can buy a pair of Hip Pop Pets for $34.99....

Gear4’s Shuffle’esque BluEye Pairs Your Ipod with Your Mobile and Throws in an FM Tuner Too

By Chip Chick

November 15th, 2006

Corp_medium_235_1_1
Gear4’s BluEye is a little bluetooth remote control with a mic that connects to both your ipod and your cell phone. The BluEye has an ear phone jack so that you can talk on your mobile phone and listen to your ipod using the same pair of headphones. Also, while connected to the BluEye, when someone calls in on your cell phone, their caller ID gets
displayed on your iPod screen. The BluEye also supports voice dialing and it
has an FM radio with 15 presets, thus illuminating the need to buy the
$49.95 ipod FM remote. The BluEye isn’t the first device we’ve seen function like this, but the BluEye is by far the best looking one. As a matter of fact, it looks so good that it could pass for having been designed by Apple itself. That is because it’s control buttons look just like that of the shuffle. The BluEye is available in black or white so that you can match it with your ipod.  This is one product we’d love to see on this side of the Atlantic. Gear4’s BluEye retails for £49.99.

Inbox.com is Cut Out to be a Good GMail Alternative

By Chip Chick

November 13th, 2006

01 Inbox.com is Cut Out to be a Good GMail Alternative
If GMail’s 2GB just doesn’t cut it for you, Inbox.com looks to be a good alternative with its current offering of 5GB of free storage. Some of Inbox.com’s features include support for attachments up to 20MB, they also offer you POP3 and SMTP access so that you can send and receive your mail using your mail client of choice, and they have an optional toolbar that you can install on your computer to notify you of new emails. Inbox.com is also designed  to  enable you store document files in your account so that you can use your account to back up files off of your computer which can then be accessed via any web browser. Gmail can also be used as a Backup drive, but in order to use your Gmail drive as a back up drive, you have to install the Gmail Drive Shell Extension which hasn’t been developed by Google itself and overall using the Gmail Drive Shell Extension can be disorienting when it comes to identifying files stored in your Gmail account via Gmail’s web interface. On the other hand, Inbox.com is designed so that you can synchronize and back up the data on your computer with your Inbox account. Inbox.com also offers photo storage, online calendar management, and notes, making it a very well rounded package. And if you ever fill up the 5GB of space that they have allotted to you for free, you can upgrade to 30GB for just $29.96 a year or $2.50 a month.
