Logitech MX Revolution Mouse Review

8803 1 Logitech MX Revolution Mouse Review
Logitech’s MX Revolution claims to be the World’s Most Advanced Mouse. It certainly has the looks to be just that, but does it live up to that claim? I tested the MX Revolution rigorously for a few weeks and the MX Revolution proved to be a champion. Read on for more.

Ergonomics
Ergonomics is a very sensitive subject for me. Between work and school I spend an unhealthy number of hours on the computer each day. As a matter of fact I am probably 2 steps away from carpal tunnel syndrome; I know this because every time I use a non-ergonomic mouse, my hand cramps up and after a few minutes I feel spasms of pain. As a result, I have been through a lot of mice over the past year because I am so finicky about the mouse having to be extremely comfortable. Luckily, Logitech’s MX revolution mouse has been designed with the right curves in the right places so that your hand rests comfortably on it as you work. The MX Revolution also has a unique thumb rest coated with a rubber grip, something I never knew I needed until I had it. I’ve been using the mouse for weeks now, for hours at a time and have experienced no cramping whatsoever, thus I can say that the MX Revolution passed my own personal test for great ergonomics with flying colors.

My previous mouse, the Microsoft Wireless optical mouse 5000, could barely perform at all on my desk’s glass top, so I purchased...

iStopMotion Software Helps You Easily Create Stop Motion Masterpieces

By Chip Chick

IstopmotionPerhaps, like me, you have noticed some of the really cool stop motion
movies that some people have posted on YouTube. I’ve had my own go at the whole
stop motion production, and 10 seconds of film ended up taking me three hours to
produce. If only I had known about iStopMotion, things would have gone a lot
more smoothly. $39.95, a Mac, and a compatible video camera gets you all you need
to make it to You Tube’s most viewed list.

If someone can come out with an NES Controller belt buckle, is it any crazier that someone has transformed an old Famicom Controller in to a Microphone? This game pad is guaranteed to take karaoke to a whole new level…. or rather an old level. The Famicom Controller Microphone is available for preorder for $16. (Source: EGM Magazine, December 06)

Crystal Studded Pepperface Hides Weapon for Protection

By Chip Chick

Pepperface
It’s a scary world out there and the jeweled cell phone in your purse isn’t
cut out to protect you. But the lipstick size jeweled Pepperface certainly is.
Don’t let its Swarovski crystals deceive you, inside of the Pepperface
is a mean canister of pepper spray. We envision the guy trying to take our bag
laugh at us as we whip out the Pepperface. Boy, will he be in for a
surprise. Pepperfaces start at about $35 and are customizable. And with optional accessories they can also be worn as necklaces or bracelets.

AIM Fight is here to answer the question each AIM addict is dying to know –
just how popular are they? Using highly unscientific algorithms related to buddy
list networks and a system we quite frankly don’t understand, you pit yourself
against another screen name to determine who has the higher score and
thus who is more popular.

Audex Duffel Jackets for Women Control Your Phone and iPod via Control Panel on its Sleeve

By Chip Chick

November 10th, 2006

Audex
We have another piece of tech from Motorola to mention today. While the Audex Duffel jackets from Motorola and Burton are not new, we weren’t aware that there was a version designed for women until now.  Audex’s Duffel jackets allow you to control your phone and iPod via an integrated control panel on the jacket’s sleeve. The jacket also has built in stereo speakers, and embedded microphone, a 3.5mm jack, a display driven control module that allows you to see caller ID, track and artist information, an it also sports bluetooth for compatibility with most phones. Oh, and then there’s that part about it keeping you warm with its Thermacore insulation, and its nifty waterproof but breathable shell. The jacket is available in khaki, black and mocha plaid (barf). But what, no pink? The jackets retail for $320 without the actual Audex system electronics.

Motorola Bluetooth Pendant Headset with an Earbud

By Chip Chick

November 10th, 2006

Motorolapendanths830
Motorola Bluetooth Pendant Headset is a bit of a breath of fresh air. The bluetooth pendant includes the detachable HS830 bluetooth module and a neck strap with a built-in headset and microphone. So basically if you are like me and prefer an earbud versus an on-the-ear headset, then this one of the only wireless solutions out there. However, all of the wires involved in wearing this pendant almost make the fact that it’s wireless seem futile. As a matter of fact, you might as well buy a $19 wired ear bud headset and it would almost serve the same purpose. Thriftiness aside, the Motorola Bluetooth Pendant Headset with the HS830 Hands-Free Kit retails for $59.99 at LetsTalk. The HS830 is also compatible with Motorola’s helmet headset and it has a battery life that will last for 6 hours of talk time and up to 120 hours of stand by. A travel charger is included as well.

Wireless Amber Alert Text Messages Reaches out to Wireless Customers to Help Save Children

By Chip Chick

November 10th, 2006

Swings
Sometimes all it takes to be a hero is to receive a text message. The Wireless Amber Alert Text Message system was set up to alert subscribers of child abductions in their area, and since the service has began, several children have been safely returned to their homes as the result of a stranger receiving an Amber Alert text message on their phone. When you sign up, you enter your Zip code, and in a situation where a law enforcement agency is able to obtain descriptive information about the victim and his or her’s general whereabouts, an Amber Alert is issued with all of the descriptive information to all Amber Alert subscribers in an area. We urge you to sign up for this service because you never know where you might end up being one day and how what you notice in one moment can change the lives of a child and a family out there.
And in a very un-corporate like move, every wireless carrier in the U.S. has agreed to wave all fees associated with receiving an Amber Alert text message – so you now have no excuse but to go ahead and sign up.

Oregon’s Scientific’s Projection Clock has Alarm that Turns off with a Wave of your Hand

By Chip Chick

November 10th, 2006

There is something about a black and red color scheme that gives a gadget an automatic oooh and ahhh factor. Oregon Scientific’s DP100 Daylight Projection Clock with Indoor Temperature Display has just that kind of "chocolaty" color scheme that we’re talking about. The DP100 can rotate up to 180˚ to project the temperature, time and date on any surface. Inside, it has special sensors which can detect when the sun in a room intensifies and then modify the strength of the projection appropriately so that you’re always able to see the projection, whether it’s day or night. The clock also functions as an alarm which you can magically turn off by waving your hand over the LED. Oregon’s Scientific’s DP100 Daylight Projection Clock with Indoor Temperature Display retails for $89.95. Overall, this looks to be one very cool clock, we hope the purty colors of this clock works better for it then they did for the M:Robe….

CES 2007: Skip-Away Consumer Disc Repair System

By Chip Chick

November 9th, 2006

Skipaway
OptoClear’s Skip-Away is an upcoming consumer oriented device that has a sole purpose of repairing and maintaining your CDs, DVDs and games discs. Until now, OptoClear’s disc repair devices have been primarily used by big businesses like Blockbuster video, where disc repair is badly needed. Unfortunately these business oriented machines run very high price tags, so OptoClear’s Skip-Away is aimed at bringing the technology to the home user. A rep told us that the expected retail price is $249. While that is significantly cheaper then previous OptoClear devices, we can’t imagine that there will be a lot of consumers who will spend $249 for a disc repair machine – of course, that doesn’t include die hard movie fans, DVD collectors, and the like. However, we do have to hand it to OptoClear for making the Skip-Away available in several colors – ladybug (red), canary (yellow), pink lemonade (pink), blade (green), jet (black), and surf (blue). Because we always like to be able to match all of our gadgets.

Ever lay down at night on your bed and wish that you had a 42" plasma in front of your bed, just like the one in the living room? Ergotron’s LX Display Cart can grant you that wish. The wheeled cart is designed to hold large displays, allowing you to easily move your display from one room to another. The LX Display Cart is height adjustable and is also able to rotate, tilt, and pan a display. The cart also sports two shelves that can hold a DVR, DVD player, XBOX or other audio and video equipment. Ergotron’s LX Large Display Cart retails for $799, a very reasonable price considering it can save you from the cost of buying additional displays, and that it also elliminates the cost of installing a display.

The EVO System is a very stylish and modern space saving solution that allows you to strategically place your display and other electronics in an attractive way. The EVO System is strong enough to support large plasma and LCD displays, but what makes this feature extra special is that fact that you can easily attach and install your display on to the EVO System all by yourself, without having to spend money on a special installation. Plus, being able to install it on your own means that you can move it around on the EVO System whenever you want – so you don’t have to worry about crushing another hole in the wall because you would like the Plasma to be placed a few inches higher or lower.  Also, the smart wooden panels are able to conceal all of your electric wiring so that you don’t have to cut open your wall ever. 9 1 CES 2007: Stylish EVO System Eleminates the Need to Cut Holes into Walls for Electrical WiringThe EVO System is made of a sturdy aluminum frame that is available in 3 finishes that can expand to multiple configurations. Audiovoxwalldecor
CES might be 2 months away, but that hasn’t stopped the gadget magic from happening a little earlier this year. Today at the Digital Experience event we got to see the unveiling of some of the upcoming products that will be showcased at CES 2007.
Amongst all the newbie gadgets was Audiovox’s Home Decor Speaker Covers made especially for the HD510 Home Decor 5.1 Speaker System. Some of you might relate to a situation like this one – he wants a powerful speaker system in the living room, but you don’t want the place looking like a bachelor’s pad. Audiovox’s Home Decor Speaker Covers allow you to disguise your speakers with 20 covers that will make your speaker look like a wall mount, tabletop, or a antique trunk. When we saw these covers, we had to do a double take when we were told that there were speakers hiding inside. Audiovox also provides an assortment of trunks that will hold the sub woofers, as well as disguises for satellites that transform the satellites into mantel clocks, candle holders, faux books, planters, wall sconces, vases, and floor standing baskets.

Ear warmers are essential in sub 25 degree weather, but wearing headphones beneath ear warmers is uncomfortable. The headphones tend to get smashed in to your ears or they just don’t stay in place the way you’d like. 180s’ Tec Fleece Ear Warmers are the ultimate solution to that life altering dilemma since they have JVC stereo headphones stuffed inside their really cozy ear warmers. Tec Fleece Ear Warmers with Stereo Headphones are available in black and they retail for $40. – Kevin Geter

My memories of yoyos are memories of shame. Let’s just say I sucked at it,
but marveled at those people at school who made playing with a yoyo a performance art.
yoyoNation is the world’s best resource for tips and tricks for all
things yoyo. They also sell all kind of yoyos and yoyo accessories. Our favorite
one is the new Pink AnY Free Rider yoyo. This
candy colored yoyo is limited to just 400, so scoop them up for $88 while you
still can.

Logitech VX Revolution Laser Mouse Review

By Natalie Mayslich

November 7th, 2006

119461 Logitech VX Revolution Laser Mouse ReviewThe notebook friendly VX revolution is a force to be reckoned with – it exhibits a
range of up to 30 feet and a significantly longer battery life (a claimed 120 days on a single AA battery) than comprobable mice. It’s curvy ergonomic design provides for unbelievably comfortable use (even if it is a tad bigger than other notebook mice). I do believe the mouse will work best for the right handed, as the soft rubber grips on the side are shaped to fit the form of a right hand.

Logitech’s addition of the scroll wheel, document quick-flip button(which lets you flip from one application to another without touching the keyboard), zoom slider, and one-button search also add to the VX’s ease of operation. Oh, and to satisfy all of you computer meddlers out there, 5 of the 7 buttons are programmable (with exception of the standard right and left clickers). Left as is, the mouse is EXTREMELY browser centric. All 5 of the extra buttons are meant to increase speed and efficiency in scrolling.

Logitech1_1In using the mouse, you have a choice between two scrolling modes. In the first mode, it operates like any all other mouse wheels, and generates that annoying clicking sound as you spin it. In the second mode, you just give it one flick and it keeps spinning. As you can imagine, this is a huge time saver. To emphasize, I was able to run through 72 pages of my midterm (PDF File) with...

Tissot’s T-Touch Touch Sensitive Do It All Watch is Fit for 007

By Chip Chick

November 7th, 2006

Ttouch_1
Tissot’s T-Touch watch series has a unique touch sensitive screen that allows you to control its many features which include an accurate altimeter (in feet and meters), a chronograph (split and add time), a compass, an alarm, thermometer (in ºC and ºF), and a barometer as well as the date and time function. We can’t imagine how easy it would be to get our stubby little fingers to control the watch face, but the flash demo looks pretty convincing. The T-Touch series is available in many different styles, colors and materials.
