Block Lamp Appears to be a Melting Ice Cube

Leave it to the Swedish to think up something so odd yet esthetically pleasing. The award winning Harri Koskinen Block Lamp looks like a large ice melting cube with a light bulb stuck inside of it. However, the melting aspect is just an illusion. This crazy lamp is available in a large version that measures 4″ L x 6-1/4″ W x 3-1/5″ that retails for $92.00 or a mini sized version that measures 3″ L x 4-3/4″ W x 2-3/4″ D and retails for $60.

BLOCK LAMP designed by Harri Koskinen: is no longer available from MOMA store. And almost impossible to find anywhere else! e.g.: “Temporarily Out of Stock” at ConransUSA.com.

The small version can still be purchased from Finnstyle.com at the old price of $60…. although the large one is also “out of stock”.

Its apparently being “re-issued” in June 2007 in both sizes by Design House Stockholm for 110 and 129 Euros [including shipping and VAT] - or about $179 and $199 respectively.
