Dell Offers Anti-Theft Security Package for Laptops
Have you ever had bad dreams about your laptop “walking away”? Yesterday, Dell announced that they teamed up with Absolute Software to provide “ComputraceR LoJackR for Laptops” theft recovery service both, as a standalone product ($49 - $139) and part of CompleteCare Accidental Damage Service package (available for select Inspiron models). If your laptop is stolen, the software then calls home, reports the IP of its new location, and you get it back. This is of course a best-case scenario, working against unsophisticated thieves. Our advice is, however, to rely on a Kensington laptop lock whenever you’re working at a public place and a good back-up strategy for your files.
