I won’t claim its environmentally friendly but, it’s definitely environmentally aware. The Sugar Maple Leaf Nightlight is made from a real Sugar Maple Lead and preserved in 24 karat gold. Is the gold necessary? Probably–it actually serves a purpose beyond the cosmetic, it allows the leaf to retain its natural shape (all those tiny pores and veins are visible). Seems to me that it would appeal to the average joe for its unique design just as it would appear to some night crawlers out there for its functional purpose. Then again, $45 for a night light is a bit steep.
