strikealart StrikeAlert Personal Lightning Detector for Those Who Suffer from AstraphobiaEvery once and a while we come across a gadget that makes you wonder about what they were thinking when they came up with the idea for it. The StrikeAlert Personal Lightning Detector is just such a gadget. “The world’s first convenient, dependable and easy-to-use personal lightning detector” can warn you of approaching lightning strikes from as far away as 40 miles. If a strike actually happens, an alarm will sound (umm, isn’t hearing the strike good enough?). Resembling a beeper, the small and compact device can be clipped to your belt clip or backpack. How cool is that! “Oh my god, are you wearing a beeper!?” “No way! This is a Personal Lightning Detector”.
The StrikeAlert Personal Lightning Detector retails for $92.00.

This unit has a weak link, and that’s the power/multi function switch. I’ve already had to send one back, and the company I bought it from, was cooperative, but admitted that was a problem. Otherwise, it works as advertised and I was satisfied, but having to call customer service and keep swapping units, isn’t what a consumer wants, they want reliability, and this unit isn’t, because of the main switch.
