Admittedly, I am a push over for a well designed and constructed laptop mouse. And as laptop mice go, perhaps the adage would be if you’ve seen and used one laptop mouse, you’ve seen and used them all. However, that is far from the truth with Rocketfish’s Twister Wireless Laser Mouse ($44.99). Twisting the bottom base of this mouse transforms it into a fully functional travel mouse and twisting it back to its flat state, allows one to actually fit this mouse into their shirt pocket with out the lumps (try doing that with a conventional travel mouse or with any mouse for that matter).
At 2.4Ghz and weighing less than an ounce, the Twister Laser Mouse, is truly a joy to use. With standard right and left click buttons and its one of a kind middle scroll button which emulates a touch pad found on laptops is a very ingenious and useful feature. The response time of the touch pad worked with remarkable accuracy. From its black matte finish to its handsomely designed chassis, I was also impressed to see a rather slim USB receiver and the fact that when not in use, this receiver fits in a hidden compartment on the right side of the mouse.
Additionally, the Twister Laser Mouse makes good use of power management in that the mouse automatically turns itself off when the USB receiver is stored inside of its compartment. Pretty nifty, eh? Programming the four buttons on this mouse is done via Rocketfish’s pretty standard software.
Even surfing the internet was fun as the middle scroll button button never fatigued my fingers and my hand did not become cramped after a few hours of use. And although I found the red side button located on the left side of the mouse a pain to use because of its location and functionality, this did not curve my enthusiasm. The Twister Laser Mouse uses 2 AAA batteries, comes with a padded carrying case and is Windows 2000, XP and Vista Compatible.
All in all, the Twister Laser Wireless Mouse will make a perfect Father’s Day gift because of its ease of use, versatilty and practicality. This mouse by far is one of the best that I’ve used!
Great job Rocketfish!
The Good:
Affordable, works well
The Bad:
Red Button is inconveniently located on left side
