My daily gadget arsenal consist of toting around several portable devices such as my psp, blackberry, mp3 player, a flash drive, and my digital camera as well as important documents. And trusting a carrying device that can adequately protect and store my coveted and prized tech belongings is no small task.
The XO Leather PSP case ($17.95) and the Transit bag ($19.95) proved to be worthy adversaries from Australian based, start-up, XO. Both the PSP leather case and the Transit bag is stylishly designed and crafted from 100% genuine leather.
The PSP case is very sturdy, has a belt-strap, and it measures 190 x 76 x 35mm (7.5″ x 3″ x 1.37″), has a secure lock velcro strap, and has a recharge socket and headphone access. Additionally, I found the non-abrasive lining and foam padding to be a plus considering that I’ve seen my fair share of poorly designed abrasive laden innards of PSP cases. I fully was at ease in placing my PSP inside of this case. The only draw back that I see from using this case, is that it does not have a compartment for miniature headphones and that a belt-clip instead of a belt strap would have served this PSP carrying case more justice.
The XO Transit bag is the perfect companion in terms of complimenting or augmenting the minor deficiencies of the PSP case. At 260 x 382 x 10mm (10.2″ x 1″ x 0.4″), this European themed bag or pouch is large and adequate enough to carry your documents securely and one or two of PSP game cartridges (without using the plastic case enclosures) in its large main compartment with an YKK zip closure and the rear stash pocket with an YKK zipper, can confidently hold items such as a thumb drive or a very small mp3 player. I was able to fit my PSP in the Front access sleeve, but it was quite a tight fit and the neoprene padding and nylon lining left me feeling a bit uneasy at carrying my digital camera inside of this Transit bag.
This Transit bag may be an acquired taste for some men, who may not feel comfortable carrying a bag with straps (the straps are removable). However, even I found the design of the Transit Bag to be very masculine looking and didn’t have any problems schlepping a few of my gadgets around in! I also appreciated the fact that the purpose of the Transit bag is to tote only a few of your gadgets (so, choose wisely). However, if you prefer the Nintendo DS to the PSP, XO-Works also has a spiffy white Nappa leather case for the Nintendo DS Lite with velvet-feel inner lining, and a wrist strap which retails for $17.95.
All in all, Xo’s Leather PSP case and it’s Transit bag provide the right mix of features, sophistication, urban elegance and class as well as being affordably priced. So, whether you use them both at the same time or separately, you will not be disappointed.
