Don’t get us wrong, we really have nothing against RCA. In the past they have made some decent looking DAPs. But their latest, the Opal is really only an MP3 player that a mother could love. The blue and white design (also available in red and white) with its fake scroll-wheel seem like it is trying too hard to be something it’s not – while being far different enough to not be accused of trying to be some other famous MP3 player. CNET reviewed the Opal and gave it a 5.6 out of 10, lamenting it for a frusterating interface but praising it for it’s slender size, 1.5″ color OLED screen and inexpensive $70 price tag. What can we say, not all MP3 players are created equal.
