Did you ever think to yourself that you could do so much better than the big-guys when it comes to product innovation. But who has the money to invest in making an expensive product like a cell phone or Mp3 player or anything like it? The Fab@Home project was developed so that the average person could become their own innovator, without having to worry about insane costs. The Fab@Home web site helps you create a fabber – “machines that can make almost anything, right on your desktop. This website provides an open source kit that lets you make your own simple fabber, and use it to print three dimensional objects. You can download and print various items, try out new materials, or upload and share your own projects. Advanced users can modify and improve the fabber itself.” And it looks like some Fabbers have produced everything from flashlights to rubber bottels. So, can you really make your own iPod using a fabber? Well, we’re not quite sure but it does look like the possibilities are pretty big with and are only limited by your own brains. Uh, oh for us then.
