Orgoo Beta Brings Together All Your Email and IM Accounts

September 30, 2007

Orgoo Beta Brings Together All Your Email and IM AccountsOrgoo, still in beta, is one of the best Web 2.0 services I’ve ever had the privilege of using. The service aggregates all of your email accounts - AOL, Yahoo (plus), Gmail, Pop , Imap, .Mac and MSN & Hotmail accounts are all supported and most are automatically configured and overall it’s easy to set up. Via Orgoo’s web site you can send and receive email from each of your accounts so that you don’t have to log in and out of several accounts each time you want to check your mail. I know that every morning i find myself checking two AOL accounts, a gmail account and a Microsoft Exchange account. Yet when I’m out with my phone, my iPhone pushes all of those accounts to me - so I’ve been waiting and waiting for a web-based service to show up that could do the same sort of thing.
orgooscreenshot.jpg Orgoo also lets you log in to most popular IM accounts, the way Meebo does. Your buddy list gets juxtaposed next to your mail box window on the left side of the browser. The IM features works well, and like setting up your email accounts, the process is very simple. One gripe I have with it however is that my privacy preferences don’t seem to carry over from my regular accounts. For example, in one of my AIM accounts I am currently blocking everyone but co-workers while I work. When I log in to that account via Orgoo, everyone is unblocked. Hopefully that sort of thing will be remedied with future updates to Orgoo, and overall it’s really not too much of a big deal. [Read more]

WikiScanner Helps You Sort out Seedy Wikipedia Entries

September 30, 2007

wikipedia WikiScanner Helps You Sort out Seedy Wikipedia EntriesAs much as Wikipedia is an incredibly useful tool,  it’s also incredibly easy to corrupt, being that anyone can edit an entry. After all, have you ever considered who is writing what about whom? Here is a great way to filter out the authenticity of some Wikipedia entries. WikiScanner helps you figure out the IP address of the people who have edited an entry, thus allowing you to sort out whether or not the entry is legit or not. The site also has a link to Wired’s list of Salicious edits  which is pretty entertaining to keep track of.

Sliding Mouse VOIP Phone Suffers from Identity Crisis

September 26, 2007

chinavasion-cvdyn-vp688-7-noblue Sliding Mouse VOIP Phone Suffers from Identity CrisisWe’ve seen many computer mice that double as VOIP handsets, but this mouse sports a very unique design. The mouse slides open to reveal a numeric keypad, a speaker-phone, while the top of the mouse has a backlit LCD screen that displays contact details, time and other information from the chat program, making the mouse look a lot like a cell phone. Also, the 800 dpi mouse also does double duty as a computer speaker, but at just 1.5watts, it wont replace your regular speakers anytime soon. The sliding mouse is available in red black or silver for $24.13 and is compatible with most popular VOIP programs.

It’s Guitar Hero Day

September 26, 2007

guitarheroiii Its Guitar Hero DayIt has been awhile since we’ve been this excited about a video game launch (sorry, we don’t play Halo). Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock launched in New York City today and we’re quite excited to get our hands on the latest addtion to the series. What we love so much about Guitar Hero, aside from the great gameplay, is the fact that most types of people enjoy playing it. When it comes to video games, some people prefer first person shooters, some prefer RPGs, and then there is Guitar Hero which everyone takes too. But we digress. Admittedly, the launch today was not that exciting, though we did get to see the gameplay live - not that we’ve haven’t been watching the trailers for months already. We’re just psyched to try out the new tracks from Guns N’ Roses, The Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam. If you’re heading to Digital Life this weekend, you should be able to play it for yourself. Anyway, it’s been officially declared Guitar hero day in New York City but we think it’s kind of a tease since the game isn’t officially released until October 28th. Why must you do this to us, Activision.

Griffin’s TuneBuds Review

September 25, 2007

tunebud2 Griffins TuneBuds ReviewAdmittedly, I am not a huge fan of ear bud earphones, partly because the few that I’ve tried don’t do a good job at producing an adequate mix of bass, and the highs as well as lows in music. Then there is the matter of jamming tiny rubbery plugs into your ears, which ultimately take it’s toll on the ears by tiring them out. Thus, turning any music listening experience into a painful inner-ear aching catastrophe. However, after trying Griffin’s Tune Buds ($29.99), I have changed my tune (at least with these earphones). Also, the Tune Buds are made to fit most mp3 players. [Read more]

Response Kettle Creates a Light Spectacle While Heating

September 25, 2007

kenwood Response Kettle Creates a Light Spectacle While HeatingWhile boiling water is probably the easiest thing to do in the kitchen, it is kind of difficult to know sometimes just how hot the water is yet. That is why Kenwood’s new Response Kettle is truly a kettle for the modern day. Instead of assuming that the water is ready because you hear whistling or because it is steaming, the appliance lights up through a different range of colors to represent different temperatures. Also, with the flip of a switch the kettle has the ability to heat the water to 80 degrees which is perfect for teas. And we like our teas best when they are jussssttt right. RocketShotz Makes Mobile Web Surfing Less Painful

September 25, 2007

RocketShotz Makes Mobile Web Surfing Less PainfulBack in the day I was a pretty fast text messenger using my cell phone’s numeric keypad. Still, the more time saved punching out a URL, the better. Rocketshotz is a neat service that has been optimized for your mobile phone (the iphone and ipod Touch are also compatible) which lets you set up your favorite mobile sites online and then have the appropriate icons transfer directly to your phone. All you have to do is sign up online, choose your sites, and than head to RocketShotz.com via your cell phone’s browser. And aside from being very convenient, Rocketshotz is also a great way to discover cool mobile sites for your phone that you probably never knew about.

Xexoo’s Pure Gold iPod and iPod Nano

September 25, 2007

xexxogoldipods Xexoos Pure Gold iPod and iPod NanoWe already knew that Xexoo was producing a pure gold 2g ipod shuffle. But when we first read about it, we kind of thought it to be an oxymoron. Afterall isn’t the shuffle the cheapie of the ipod line, so why invest in covering it in gold? Anyway, it turns out that Xexoo also produces gold Nano’s and regular ipods. They even make matching gold docking stations, earphones and remote controls. And our conclusion about all of this? Only the Donald himself would bother with these.

Work It, Mom! Online Community for Working Moms

September 24, 2007

Work It, Mom! Online Community for Working Moms Think of Work It, Mom! as a MySpace… sort of. There are a lot of communities out there designed for moms, but Work It, Mom! was designed specifically for mothers juggling a career while simultaneously raising their kids. The community provides a place where working moms can connect, get and share advice, read blogs and publish their own stories or articles. And on a related note, isn’t raising children a career within itself?

RCA RP5050 Digital Voice Recorder Also Snaps Pics

September 24, 2007

147×225-rp5050.jpgRCA’s RCA RP5050 Digital Voice Recorder is a pretty unusual digital voice recorder. Aside from recording audio, it can also snap photos at 0.3 megapixels. That is not quite photo print quality, but having the ability to take a picture on the spur of the moment while you are recording something is convenient. Spec wise the RCA RP5050 has 128MB of ram which can hold up to 36 hours of audio recordings, it also works as a MP3 player, it supports MP3 encoding, and it comes with a docking station. On top of that, the price is right - we spotted the RCA RP5050 for as little as $89 online.

Victory Vision is the First iPod Motor Bike

September 24, 2007

victoryvision Victory Vision is the First iPod Motor BikeWe know naught about motorcycles, but just based on looks alone, the Victory Vision 2008 seems to be quite the ride. But it’s not the rpm or even it’s slick style that has us interested in the Vision, but its connectivity options. The bike comes ready with iPod connectivity - with music navigation controls smartly placed on the handle bars while tracks can be viewed on the dashboard. The premium version also has a 4 speaker system, and you can have XM radio thrown in as well. We’ll take one in red please.

Send Free Voice Messages to Your Friends

September 24, 2007

pinger Send Free Voice Messages to Your FriendsWe’ve mentioned Pinger before, a neat new technology that brings you free voice messaging for your cell phone. Pinger is a really great communication tool that can make your life simpler. Basically, the way it works is that if I want to send you a message but I don’t want to bug you (I know you are in a meeting, at a movie, etc) you call the Pinger number (a local call) on your cell. The first thing you hear is “who do you wanna message?”. You say the name of the person. You say your message and send it. The recipient gets a text message that prompts them to dial the local number and presto they get your voice message. I have had to get messages to people at odd hours and have used it and it really is quite handy. In case, you’re a bit confused, check out the Pinger video that describes it quite well. You can also try it yourself by calling 310-651-6366 to send a free message now.

MP3 Player Built into Standard Cassette Casing

September 24, 2007

chinavasion-cvaal-b20-1-mainthumb_241×240.jpgFor those of you who love old school aesthetics but don’t want to be ignorant with modern day tech, the Cassette MP3 player blends together the best of both worlds. Not only is the Cassette MP3 player shaped like a tape cassette, it also works with any car cassette or cassette player so that you can play your MP3s off of it. This DAP is also dirt cheap at just $21.63. Granted there is no LCD screen and you have to provide your own SD cards, but still the price is right and this is definitely a one of a kind item. (Thanks, Leah!)

September 23, 2007

WalletPix Digital Photo Album for Carrying Around Your Loved Ones The days of showing off pictures of your kids in your wallet are gone. Nowadays you whip out your cell phone if you want to show off a picture of little Timmy. Or you could get WalletPix, a small digital photo album about the size of a credit card, but a little thicker. WalletPix can hold up to 58 photos transferred from your computer which you can flip through or set to an automatic slideshow. A “free” USB cable is included with the package, a long with a protective case / wallet. Act now and you can even buy one and get one free - for $19.98 x 2 payments. Realistically we can’t see anyone using these except maybe some somewhat technologically savvy grandparents. Then again, most of our grandparents do have cell phones.
