Digital Picture Postcards

I stopped in to a local tourist souvenir store the other day and noticed something different amongst the postcards – a digital picture postcard. The Digital Picture Postcard is essentially a CD-ROM with 250 hi-res photographs of New York City on it ready to mail back home. The back of the packaging has space to write a quick note to your loved one about what a great time you’re having along side the address. We’re not sure if this is kind of stupid or not – after all, can’t you just email the photos? Maybe one day postcards will have their own OLED displays and come packed with several themed photos, now that would be cool. Currently there are also digital picture postcards for San Francisco, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., Niagara Falls, and Oahu, Hawaii, each retails for $9.99.
