With a billion YouTube imitators out there, how do you separate yourself from the pack? Asterpix, which officially launches on December 3rd, has a unique spin on online video. Each of their videos are interactive. Their videos are “hypervideos” which allow users to select objects on the video which can give them more information or allow them to navigate the video. Want to point out where little Timmy’s hat was purchased? You can tag it with a square shape. And if let’s say you discovered a YouTube video that you’d like to add comments to in the form of hypervideo tags, Asterpix will let you also tag those YouTube videos, as well as videos from many other popular services. Overall, we can see how this whole hypervideo thing could be useful, especially for advertisers. But let’s hope it doesn’t ever become widespread because that would be irritating.
