Well with Valentines Day right around the corner, here are some pretty affordable gadgets to buy for someone special (or for yourself – heck why not) in honor of the day.

I love money – I’m as materialistic as they come and I’m damn proud of it. So I was tickled pink like a little school girl again when Bandai released their interpretation of bath time for the rich. Introduced, was bubble bath tablets that are in the likeness of “100,000 yen.” Put them in the tub and get relaxed thinking you are Donald Trump, then watch as it fizzles away into bubbles, kind of like the economy. Aptly named “Bubbly Bubble Bath”, Bandai expects to release these in March sometime in local Japanese convenience stores. Obviously they won’t be coming to the U.S. anytime soon but I will be checking ebay for them. After all, I have always wanted to smell like money after bath time.

The ability to customize your own gadgets is becoming ever so more popular. We posted a short time ago about Kingston making it possible for buyers to customize USB keys. Jabra was one of the first companies to offer customize bale bluetooth headset with their Jabra BT160. And their new Jabra BT3010 follows in its footsteps. The BT3010 Bluetooth headset which includes “33 creative cover designs,” 8 of which have been actually designed by Jabra users, or you can choose the option to create your own. Spec wise it lasts for up to 8 hours of talk time and 300 standby hours and it weighs just 0.38 ounces. But really who cares about that, as long as you make that Jabra pop on your ear.

Love the smell of scented candles and Febreze…then you’ll really like the USB Aromatherapy Oil Burner from Think Geek. All you do is take the included oil and drop a few drops into it and then insert its USB connector into your computer. All of sudden your space will smell like roses which is known for being an anti-depressant smell as well as an aphrodisiac, who knew. There is also jasmine and peppermint burners that come in yellow and green. Retailing for $5.99 this is one unique air freshener or subtle hint. Tis a shame though that they couldn’t fit in some memory on to it so that it do double duty as a USB key.

Boot Camp is a very powerful tool but it has its limits. For instance, if you’re using the Windows side of the computer, you can’t read, write and access the Mac side. That is where the software Mac Drive comes in, it allows you to read/write and access your Mac drive from your windows drive, and it does a good job of it. However, the picture isn’t complete with MacDrive alone because if you’re on the Mac side, you still can only read the Windows side but not delete or modify files. Paragon’s new NTFS for Mac OS X completes Boot Camp by allowing the Mac side (Leopard is supported as well) to read, write and format all of your NTFS windows drives. I tried it out and installed in a cinch. The most time consuming part was the requirement to restart the computer. After that, all of my NTFS hard drives are now both readable and writeable. I can’t begin to describe how helpful this is. So often I have files that I need to access and modify but they are on the Windows side.

It turns out that Vertu, the infamous luxury phone, has a very feminine line up for the special Summer Collection. Granted this collection did come out last summer, but for those of you with lots of $$$$ to spare, this can work as a great Valentine’s day gift. Do you associate Strawberries with summertime? Well Vertu is certainly hoping so. The Vertu Ascent Strawberry is crafted out of the finest materials as all the Vertu lines. It has been handcrafted leather in strawberry color, it has a diamond etched pattern in the back of the phone in brushed steel, and it also has a diamond pattern etched into the front of the phone. Yesterday AMD to showed us the VERY impressive ATI TV Wonder Line by Diamond in person. There is big misconception with the fact that HD quality TV can only be attained through your local cable service provider. But the ATI TV Wonder line proves that over the air HD quality television is possible and available for FREE! But somehow most consumers aren’t even aware of it, or perhaps they are but they are skeptical about its quality. We got to see the TV Wonder HD 650 Combo USB ($149) in action and the quality was excellent. Granted, the quality of the experience varies according to the reception in your area, but we were still mightily impressed by the quality of the over-the-air HD broadcasts that are available in New York City. No cable lines – no nothing. It received better reception than the plasma hooked up the old fashioned way in the suite we were in. Regular television programming streamed across the the laptop demonstration, as if I was watching my regular HDTV but in some cases even better. The picture was crisp and clear in 1080p with barely a flicker or boxy/noisy image in sight.

Here we go again another alarm clock…no it has no dock or MP3 capabilities for a change. This is just a good ol’ alarm clock that will shake you right out of bed. The Sonic Boom Sweetheart is from the same company who brought you the Sonic Bomb alarm clock. It has pulsating alert lights and it’s LED is the color of the rainbow. For some, the fact that it’s shaped like a big pink heart might be endearing but it just shows there is a thin line between love and hate…especially when it’s an earth shattering alarm clock.

There seems to be an endless need to put every gadget we own in an accessory case. So why not your hard drive? Case Logic has a few Hard Drive focused cases serve to protect your precious storage from getting bumped and cracked – instead of just tossing your portable hard drive it in your bag the way most of us do. Case Logic has neoprene cases, and compact colored cases that should fit most portable USB powered hard drive portable hard drives and they even have more durable hard shell cases for those big behemoth external hard drives. We have seen all ranges of gadgets, some are absolutely ingenious and others are just plain moronic….and ladies and gentleman here is one of them. The Wine Rack, no not that kind of wine rack…yes it may look like an ordinary sports bra but in fact it is a bra composed of polyurethane bags that can be filled with your favorite alcoholic beverage or soda, and even comes with a straw! You can’t make this stuff up. Not only is this a killer way to sneak booze into a fraternity party, but it will also enhance your bra size, of course after a few sips you will deflate. It retails for $29.95 at Firebox and is available in two sizes Small and Medium which is already SOLD OUT. What does that say about consumers in general?

I love massages – every time I go away I always make it a point to go to one or else the vacation isn’t complete. Well what if I brought the masseuse home with me? The Massage Chair by MSV Sportswear is one hideous chair, but it does it all! The Massage Chair Kneads, taps, applies finger pressure, vibration massage, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There is also a Hi-Def DVD player and LCD display to enjoy while the chair is beating the kinks out of you. There is also two levels of intensity – hi or low. Coming from a company specializing in sportswear and fitness machines, I found it a bit odd but whom am I to judge. Retailing for £2,999  – why not spoil yourself.

It’s very nice to see a continuing trend of alot of major players in the computer industry finally thinking about the overall design of laptops and computers, not just their innards. Apple has been ahead of the pack in overall design concept, but HP and Dell are quickly catching up and making it known that they too can be hip and stylish. HP’s Special Edition Laptop in Clay is one such step in the right direction. Overall Hp’s lines have become very trendy and the Clay is no exception. With a Bronze colored outside and textured design through to when you flip open the computer by the keyboard. There is style and uniqueness throughout. Under the hood is your typical centrino duo core processor and the nice touch of a lightscribe compatible SuperMulti DVD±RW/CD-RW drive. You can check out more specs here.

One of SanDisk’s more stylish USB keys that we spotted at CES has finally showed up in a store near you. Radio Shack has the 1GB Sandisk Cruzer Gator in Pink for only $9.95. Granted that is just 1gb, but still a good deal for a “fashion” usb key. The regular price is $34.99 and it is currently on sale till 2/16/08. So hurray up and get this cute USB key in time for your Valentine.

So for those who had to get rid of the that Rock Band Drum Kit because otherwise your landlord would kick you out, how about the Finger Drums from Think Geek. Just use your fingers and go crazy like Mick Fleetwood or Phil Collins. Each drum set has a snare, two toms, bass drum, kick pedal, and cymbal. All you have to do is use your pointers and go crazy. Lights will also go off as you hit the drums and the best thing about it is you can record how crappy you play, and play it over and over again for your friends.

Here we go again – I’m starting to think 2008 is going to be all about waterproof cases and solar powered gadgets. The Solio Charger gets its energy from the sun and will not only charge up your cell phone, but also your iPod. The Solio tip system allows you to charge your devices at about the same rate as your typical wall chargers. It includes seven tips and cables and you can purchase additional ones if those don’t work for you. Continuing along with the waterproof theme we seem to have been observing lately, is the Ozone Neutron from gadgetshop for £24.99. This inflatable chair looks to be quite comfortable and will also keep you afloat if you seem to get yourself into a Titantic type of situation. There are two speakers built into the lining of the chair and input jacks for an iPod, TV, other MP3 players, or a CD player. The speakers are powered by whatever device you are using. The chair can be used inside too, but what fun is that. Be sure you get a H20 Audio protector for your iPod before you break out the Ozone Neutron or else what would be the point…
