DNA Kits Used to Stop Spitting at Bus Drivers in London
Ok, maybe this is a cultural thing but the concept of spitting at someone seems abhorrent to me, and I think most Americans feels the same way. Apparently though, on the other side of the pond, spitting is such an issue that it’s become a widespread crime in London. Bus Drivers are getting issued with DNA kits so that if a passenger spits on them, they can be traced by the police. These DNA kits will be handed out across London’s 7,000 buses and it’s already been supplied in their 275 Tube stations. “The DNA kits will allow drivers to take swabs of saliva that can be passed to the police and checked against criminal records. Transport for London says that about seven out of 10 samples provides a match.” Apparently there were more than 1,000 spitting incidents last year alone. And here I thought the English were more prim and proper than us. (Source: The London Paper)
