Verbatim’s Affordable Firewire/USB Portable Hard Drive
Ultraportable hard drives are all the rage nowadays, their getting cheaper and cheaper and better looking as companies compete to come out with slicker designs and cool colors. A USB hard drive does the job, but if we recommend getting one with Firewire as well because firewire reads and writes much faster and more reliably than USB. Unfortunately most ultraportable hard drives with Firewire cost substantially more than their single USB counterparts. That is why we were oh, so delighted to come across Verbatim’s affordable USB/ Firewire portable hard drives. The pretty slick hard drives are totally USB or Firewire powered, sport 5,400RPM hard drives inside and come in capacities as big as 500GB and 320GB. The 320GB version is even on available for as little as $129, making it comparably priced to a ultraportable USB harddrive.
