July 31, 2008

mickeyframe-300x225 A-Datas Retro Disney Digital Picture Frame How cool is this? Not that I’m a big fan of the house that the mouse built but I’ll give props to A-Data for making something unique for a change with a digital picture frame. The A-Data Digital Disney frame has a an illustrated retro Mickey circa 1980’s adnorning the frame. The 7-inch digital frame features a TFT LCD panel, automatic photo rotation, and 1GB of embedded memory. In addition there is a touch of magic with the inclusion of touch sensor buttons! It will support Jpeg and WMV formats and will connect to your computer via a USB. We couldn’t find any pricing or availability yet but I’m sure some mouseketeers would just love to have it.

SkullCandy Audio Pack, The Bag Pack Boombox

July 31, 2008

skullcandy-300x225 SkullCandy Audio Pack, The Bag Pack Boombox Remember back in the day when teenagers would walk the streets blasting their huge boomboxes for all to hear. Many found it obnoxious, others probably cool. Well if you miss those old days and can’t find a boombox to carry around then I think the Audio Pack from Skullcandy may be up your alley. You can plug your iPod into the 30 pin connector thats in the bag and control the volume settings via the touch pad on the arm straps. The thing that makes the bag standout is that fact there are 60mm external speakers built into the backpack so others can hear your music as well. Blast this thing on the way to school or as you hang out in the airport. You are bound to annoy someone. It’s available in three different designs and retails for $129.95 a bit pricey but the time that will be spent annoying others - priceless.

2008 Bejing Olympics Webcam Looks More like a Toy

July 30, 2008

olympicswebcam-300x225 2008 Bejing Olympics Webcam Looks More like a ToyThe 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing is set to begin next week and what better way to commemorate that experience than with a webcam that resembles the Olympic rings. Yes, it looks like a plastic toy but it does have “exciting” LED lights in each of the rings and of course the camera. The camera features 1.3 MegaPixels and it connects to your computer via USB, but will not work on a Mac computer. The 2008 Bejing Olympic Webcam retails for $26.99. I’m sure this is the first of many, um, quality items marketing the Bejing Olympics…

Bird’s Nest Stereo Speakers Really Doesn’t Look Like a Nest

July 29, 2008

birdsnest-300x225 Birds Nest Stereo Speakers Really Doesnt Look Like a Nest

The Birds Nest Stereo speakers are extremely unique looking thats for sure. Supposedly this item operates as stereo speakers but I’m not even sure if it looks like a birds nest…in any case it is powered by a USB cable and has a very feminine look with its purple hue. There is also an audio out cable to plug into your audio device. We can’t say for sure how good the sound is on this thing but you will certainly get a alot of comments or ashes from cigarettes if they mistake it for an ashtray…the Birds Nest Stereo retails for $12.98.

Update: I was kindly told that this was actually made to replicate the Bejing National Stadium for the Olympics this year. I guess I should watch another channel besides Bravo. Thanks Karen!!

JayBird JB-200 Bluetooth Stereo Headset Review

July 29, 2008

jaybird10hr-300x200 JayBird JB-200 Bluetooth Stereo Headset ReviewIronically, Bluetooth has been around for nearly 15 years; However, for most of this time, this technology was dormant. Thus, leading some experts in the technology field wondering whether Bluetooth would become what BETA players and its technology had become with the advent of VHS technology during the 1980’s —- Extinct (VHS had won out over BETA).

However, with-in the last few years, technology and electronic manufacturers have found resounding uses for Bluetooth. Almost everyone is using a Bluetooth headphone these days with a Bluetooth enabled cellphone, computer, and most recently mp3 players.  We have seen Bluetooth spawn from version 1.0 to it’s current inception (version 2.0). Thus, what this has meant to consumers has been a robust version of gadgets! No where is this more notable than with Bluetooth headsets. [Read more]

8 Speed Transmission Electric Bike with Built-in Odometer

July 28, 2008

redbike-300x225 8 Speed Transmission Electric Bike with Built-in Odometer If you are an avid bike rider, than I’m sure you will appreciate the Eight-Speed Transmission Electric Bicycle from Hammacher Schlemmer. If you like to climb hills alot with your bike and seem to loose steam while pumping away at the pedals, the transmission electric bicycle has an 8 speed transmission built into the horizontal chain that is powered by a 750-watt electric motor. The overall design of the bike looks like a sad face but you’ll never be sad with this thing as it saves you energy as well as being ergonomic. It also has a fire engine red color that is a nice touch. Another cool feature is that there is an LCD which displays the odometer, clock, chronograph, and speedometer. This bike can go 30 miles at 20mph before needing to be recharged for 5 hours via an AC adapter. But the best part is that you can disengage the bike whenever you want to ride it normally like you would any other bicycle, in order to conserve power. Everything is controlled by a thumb toggle on your handlebars. So what does something like this cost? $5,500… but I guess that is not bad for a bike that does so much. Then again, for this price you can almost buy a car.

Smile, You Are On the Star Trek TOS Science Tricorder

July 25, 2008

tricorder-300x225 Smile, You Are On the Star Trek TOS Science Tricorder
In honor of the X-files 2 movie this weekend lets reflect on another sci-fi TV show that transitioned to movies and still remains a classic. So like any true trekkie who still collects anything related to the show from the 60’s through the 90’s, what better addition to your TOS Communicator than the TOS Science Tricorder from Diamond Select Toys. For non Trekkies wondering, the Tricorder was considered the iPhone of that show with its portable screen and ability to take readings and make noises and flash. For $40 bucks you can pretend you are still every bit the scientist as Mr. Spock.
