Star Trek Experience to Reopen in Downtown Las Vegas

startrekexperience 300x225 Star Trek Experience to Reopen in Downtown Las VegasWhen we sat down to read Geek Monthly this weekend, we were pretty saddened to discover that the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas has closed down. We have fond memories of whisking ourseleves away from CES to hang out at an even nerdier place than the floors of CES. The Star Trek Experience was a safe haven for trekkers – a place where those who couldn’t tell Ferengis from Romulans were the uncool folks. Anyway, turns out that our disappointment doesn’t have to last that long – rumor has it that the Star Trek Experience is going to reopened in downtown Las Vegas. There are no definitive details yet – will it be a new Experience or just a move of the old one – we don’t know, but either way we’re happy that Trekkers will still have a place where everyone knows your name.trekkies 300x225 Star Trek Experience to Reopen in Downtown Las Vegas

Hey Carol, from what I’ve heard/read….
    1) The economy has put a hold on any construction.
    2) Rohit Joshi (of Neonopolis) can’t raise the money to begin building (because of the economy).
    3) The contract between CBS and Neonopolis ends this September.

I’ve heard rumour that CBS will not be opening at Neonopolis, but is planning somewhere on the “Strip”. Where?….Who knows. Between you and me I am hoping that CBS won’t be opening at Neonopolis because the only way to get there is by rental car or cab. If you have a rental the city charges for parking and if STTE-A is going to be successful it will need foot traffic. I don’t believe that Neonopolis will offer that. I hope we’ll hear something soon. This wait is driving me nut’s.
