Your dog, cat, or bunny runs out of the the house because it got spooked or saw in the corner of its eye vermin it wants to chase. You run and run until you can’t run anymore. What to do?! Well hopefully your pet has tags and an embedded chip, but what if you just want to alert your neighborhood about what just happened so hopefully someone is kind enough, if they find your best friend to return them to you. Find Toto is a service that will eliminate the need to stick posters to trees and hours of endless calls to neighbors and other people in your community about your lost pet. Within an hour an automated message will be sent to your neighbors letting them know what happened. You can buy packages from $125 to $875 that will alert anywhere from 125 to 10,000 people that your pet went missing, and if they find it to please let you know. Alert broadcasting times are M-F 9AM to 7PM S-S 10AM-6PM. However if your neighbors have a ‘Do not solicit’ block (prevent telemarketers) on their number, then this service will not be able to call them.

This service, while it is kind hearted, is going to bother a lot of people I’m afraid. It would be better to post an ad in the paper so that they can find you if they find your dog.

Not true that they don’t call blocked numbers, I am listed on the do not call registry and received a recorded message in my voicemail today. When I complained to Find Toto, I received this reply:
    From: krislyn [mailto:krislyn@findtoto.com]
    Sent: Friday, April 03, 2009 9:45 PM
    To: howeird@howeird.com
    Subject:

You have been added to our do not call list. We are not solicitors, nor did we solicit anything to you when we called, therefore we were able to call you. But we will never call you again.

    Thank you,

    Krislyn

These calls are nothing more than solicitations if you listen carefully. They want pet owners to use their service. I have an unlisted number but ended up in their call list, they don’t even know where I live so how can a “neighbor” have lost his/her pet near me?
