@drjonfrockit: The fact that you Googled "PC Gaming is Dying" like myself means even you self-proclaimed PC gamers are worried for the future of PC games. I'm not a PC gamer much myself (except when playing TF2) but I know for sure that PC games are the most widely pirated games out there and there's nothing to stop it unless the game is solely based on online multiplayer (TF2).

Ok... this is very serious for me...
People who talk like this are spreading propaganda.
I have digital downloads of at least 50 PC games. Of which I am playing about 15 of, on occasion, for various reasons at any given time. I just recently bought 3 titles off steam and I have not had any shortage of online gameplay from each of them. With the exception of the fourth which is Dragon Age and from what I see there is not a real need for PvP so far... or else just call it WoW.

The reason you don't see PC games in stores anymore is because of what is called Digital Distribution and it is the future for gaming. If you can't see that evolution of gaming went from consoles to the pc... then you are not a real gamer. Simple fact is, if you game on a console its because you are lazy, and probably don't have PC's as a hobby. True hobbiests will never let PC games die. Go ahead stop making PC GAMES>... we'll just play the old ones.

One more thought I had about PC Gaming, and it applies a bit to console gaming as well, but not quite as much.

As the technology has progressed, the gaming industry has divided into two markets, enthusiast and casual. The gap between those two markets has continued to grow.

As with many enthusiast groups, there's a fairly high barrier to entry, and many of the core people don't have time to spare for newbies.

The industry itself has figured out that it needs to sell to it's core audience, and so entusiast games tend to be have many levels of complication, requiring a significant time investment from the game buyer, after a not insignificant purchase price.

Getting suggestions on which game you should buy is not much less complicated than finding out which computer or car you should buy. It depends on so many variables, like how much time you expect to spend with it both in total, and per session, what level of realism or escapism, etc.

Since I've worked in the game industry in the past, I've got friends who are game enthusiasts that will talk to me even though I'm not an enthusiast myself. I usually ask what is new that I might like by naming several games from the past that I enjoyed, and why I enjoyed them. I also like to watch my friends play games, just to be able to see the games played by an expert, and be tought how to play, instead of just looking at the manual or going through tutorials.

Big companies like micro soft and sony buy up all the store spot and pc games get push to the back.

gamestop don't make money on new games they make their money on old games or used game market. You can't do that with pc games. Their pc games are over priced too.

PCGaming is like doing drugs. You are usually pushed into it by someone you know, and once you are hooked into it, you get all your future stuff from other people who are already hooked into it. The need to feed the addiction is either there or it is not, and once you fall out of it, it's easier to just stay out of it.

I've been playing computer games since I started with an IBM PC. I bought a new computer last year, and had to upgrade the video to even be able to play a single game. Then I asked a friend in the gaming industry what game I might like, based on past games I'd liked. he gave me several recommendations. I went to a store and bought one (I looked at Best Buy, Circuit City, and Fred Meyer, with the last having the best selection and price)

Since then I've played the game about 10 times total. The investment required to get involved in a modern game is so large that I just dont have the time. I enjoy quick games in a web browser as much as anything these days. Since I'm in front of a computer during the workday, getting away is good in my time off.
