This seems like an inferior product to introduce in 2009!!! No network capability, No HDMI and not so interesting support for video formats...

Not sure how this product can compete with WD HD media player
which support 1080p with HDMI output and 2 USB ports allow you to connect up to two of any brand of hard drive.

Seagate keep saying the arrival date is in March It is now March 18th and no sign of them in store and Amazon still pre ordering when are they show up in stores. As a home theater installer you can see why I am waiting for this product to hit the market. my customer need options. and I need to test it before I introduce it to my customers.

platypusrex256 - I haven't noticed any overheating when using the device. Also, Seagate does provide customers with a 1-year limited warranty on the FreeAgent Theater and a 5-year limited warranty on the FreeAgent Go Hard drive. But if you're planning on putting very valuable files on there then it's always best to have a back up somewhere else as well.

i would have concerns with overheating. yes, all hardware gets hot. the question i ask is, what does the hardware manufacture do to prevent data loss? or is it completely on your shoulders? does the hardware feel at all warm when it is operating?
