It seems Altec Lansing has now jumped on the ‘wireless streaming’ bandwagon with the Octiv AIR. The Octiv AIR is a very sleek and powerful speaker system that will let you stream your iPod, iTunes, or internet radio. Plug in the universal dock to a computer, dock an iPod, or connect a stereo and start streaming all the music you could possibly want to listen too. It delivers 80 watts of hi-fi stereo sound and the Octiv AIR has an onboard FM radio tuner. You can add up to 8 additional speakers to surround your home with music coming from every direction. Omni-directional 2.4 GHz technology means it will deliver clear and accurate sound through walls, floors and ceilings up to 100’ feet away. This system sounds extremely similar once again to the Sonos. But unlike that system where you can hear different streaming music in each room, this one allows you to hear the same music throughout all the speakers. However you can change the channel of the built in FM radio and it won’t affect the other speakers. For a limited time the Octiv AIR will retail for $299.95 but after April it will probably go back up to its original price of $399.95
