My friends have challenged each other to this accomplishment before – it’s called ‘No Screens Day’. Where you are not to use anything with a screen including TV, cell phones, computers, etc. We encourage one another to journal (the old skool blog) about the day – what they experienced, what they were aware of, how they were feeling. Some friends have done a plog (paper blog – you take a photo and post it online later) of this activity. It’s funny how fulfilling a book can be, or how awesome it is to sit in the same room with other people and actually talk to each other. You notice things more. You aren’t tied to a gadget – you can get out into the world and explore and absorb what you’re taking in. Your memories are in your mind and not some digitally enhanced photo. You actually taste your food. You sleep better because you can shut off at a decent hour. If only we’d fast technology once a week (with exception of emergencies) I think people would be much better off.
