The trend for universal remote controls with touch screen color LCDs seems to be gaining steam. The latest entry to the market is the Crestron TPMC-3X. It sports a 2.8″ 240×320 LCD with 16 bit graphics that can display high-res images, text and animations. The remote also has wifi support and it can even view webcams and video servers. This is made possible by the Crestron CEN-NVS100 MJPEG encoder inside of the device which converts video to streaming media. The remote can also let you control real-time lighting and temperature levels, menu commands, channel favorites, and even be used in conjunction with surveillance cameras. On top of that, it is also Windows SideShow enabled, not that anyone uses that anyway. There is no word on pricing, but we expect it to cost a pretty penny.
