John Joseph Houghtaling, founder of the Magic Fingers machine has passed away at 92 years old. Some of us are probably to young to appreciate or know the lure of Magic Fingers. That infamous box at the edge of your motel bed – no, we are not talking about a Hilton Hotel…Drop a quarter in the box and the bed vibrates for you – spreading its magical finger love to ’soothe’ your aching muscles or make you nauseous, or whichever comes first. The original intent was that it should work as a sort of a homedics type of device. But instead as the years went on, it turned in to something you would find in a seedy type of motel. Funny enough the device was invented while he was tinkering in his basement. The machine is a bit hard to find these days, even in motels, but you can mount one on your own bed if you wish for just $79.99.
