In case you haven’t heard the news yet, Barnes & Nobles has a serious Kindle competitor coming to market. The hardware comes courtesy of a partnership with Plastic Logic, and it will be available in early 2010. The eReader device will also give users the opportunity to download a large selection of free ebooks and it also comes preloaded with some free classic titles. Along side the device, Barnes & Nobles has announced the world’s largest eBookstore at Barnes & Nobles.com. The new eBookstore offers access to over 700,000 titles, at $9.99 a pop for new releases. But even if you don’t have a dedicated ebook reader yet, Barnes & Nobles has ebook software ready for a variety of platforms, including the iPhone and iPod touch, Blackberrys, as well as software for both PC and Macs.
