shrperuv 231x300 The Sharper Image U Video Camera Tries Looks and Acts like the Flip Wow it seems everyday there is another competitor to the Flip. The Sharper Image U Video doesn’t have any neat qualities like the Vivitar 510 had last week, but it has a few nice touches. It works just the same as the Flip or Kodak Zi6, the U-Video Camera stores up to one hour of footage on its on-board 1GB of memory. It also has a built in speaker for playback on the go. All files can easily be uploaded through a USB adapter. There is no HD here just the standard 640X480 resolution and there are no details on whether the memory is expandable. However, software, headphones, a carrying handle and AC Adaptor are included. And while Sharper Image is selling it for $99, it’s actually available at JCPenney for only $49.99, now that’s a steal.

    well at first i didn’t know how to open it either but my brother figured it out…all u do is push the door in the front of the u-video and it should slide out.

    U kind of have to push it open from the front. its a little awkward to do but u should b able 2 figure it out. mine doesnt my play! Time for my money back!

    go to the bottom and push the thing right under neath the sharper image and push really hard then pop it’s open

    p.s Im eleven and i read the escrusten…….but then i lost it.

    Changing the batteries was VERY hard. I am college educated and read the directions and still had to come here to figure it out. I even broke a pair of scissors trying to open the darn battery hatch.. Annoying. But once I got it, it is easy. However quality sucks of the videos and pics, but my 9 year old loves it.

    PIECE OF CRAP!!!! I bought one on sale at macys for 25 bucks says the original price was 100
    I took out the demo batteries and put in known good rechargeable AAA did not turn on, put regular batteries in worked,checked rechargeables with a meter read 1.45 volts DC battery says its only 1.2 volts min sooooo the batteries are good.Put back in regular batteries took a few pics and a few videos inside.well without setting up full studio lighting the quality is JUNK,so grainy you can hardly make out what u took. I also have a flip video quality is awesome and runs off rechargeables. save your money and buy a better quality unit, you will be glad you did

    recharge it by plugging it into a usb port on the computer, or car charger, that’s how i did it. the instruction manual says that the built-in rechargeable batteries are not to be removed. the camera is ok, the resolution is mediocre, the Flip has a better picture. the odd shape is kind of weird to hold, and the camera housing is not textured to provide any grip. The volume is too low to hear well even when maxed out. low-light images look black and white. super lite weight though.

    here’s how to open it. turn the camera upside down, screen facing you. push out on the tripod mount,(you can use your thumb, placing it on top of the tripod mount as you push out away from you) as that is where the battery cover is, and it will slide open.

    finding how to open this camera was really hard. even in the booklet it didn”t explain. then after reading these post i finally got it. i got this for christmas and it took like 3 weeks for me to go online to see how to open this. thanks

    How do you charge it? I got it for Christmas but it died and I accidentily threw away the instructions! Every website I get on it says READ THE INSTRUCTION!
